It's an okay stepping stone job..

    Current Employee - Assistant Coach

I have been working at Hibbett Sports

    Pros

Small town values so you build good relationships with the customers. You also build good relationships with your co-workers because you spend so much time with them.

    Cons

The pay is only good enough if you're in school and don't plan on making a career there. Even when you advance the pay isn't enough to survive. You bust your butt to get sales but the only person compensated for those sales is the Head Coach.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

For the amount of work the employees do I think they should be compensated better.

I have been working at Hibbett Sports full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The best thing about this company is that there is opportunity everywhere to move into management on a store level. And that education isn't a sole or even major determining factor. If you can perform, you will have an opportunity if you want.

    Cons

Compared to other stores in the same category, pay is probably lacking across the board. This goes for management to team players.

I have been working at Hibbett Sports full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Slow paced, get to spend time with customers, small staff

    Cons

company is too large and the corporation is in over their head, District Managers and Regional Managers do not spend enough time with managers and corporate politics are too much. Unless you are a manager or high, the pay is not good.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Depend on other managers to help you in sticky situations and advice. Upper management will not help you and play too many games.

I worked at Hibbett Sports full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Hibbett values and promotes excellent customer service. Great experience. Lovely co-workers.

    Cons

Low paying. Strict corporate culture, almost too strict. Low hours. Periods of high volume lead to a great deal of work related stress.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change merchandizing policies to allow more input from individual stores to allow them to cater to the needs of their area. If they could find a way to do this, I'm certain profits would increase.
