    Pros

When Brad was there it was so so but at least there was some vision.
    Free lunch every Monday.
    Stocked kitchen.

    Cons

    Terrible middle management.
    Lots of kickbacks taking place.
    Attrition is very high.
    To many 'clicks'.
If you have ideas for technical improvement, for get it. If it doesn't come from the preferred VAR your idea is worthless.
There are a few good apples but it doesn't matter, management stifles moral.

    Advice to Management

    Sell the company.
    Try a massive pivot.
    Listen to your frontline engineers.
Rid middle management of their duties

    Pros

Work-life balance. Free lunch on Monday.

    Cons

With the recent layoff, not sure where the company is headed.

    Advice to Management

Agreed w/ Brad that cloud storage is a commodity. The board should have sold the company...

    Pros

Good people, flexible hours, free snacks and Monday lunches

    Cons

Poor technical organization, high rate of turnover in engineering dept, poor business decisions leading to even worse technical management, inability to execute and deliver product on time or of sufficient quality. CEO just got fired, I expect the entire exec staff to be cleared out in short order.

    Advice to Management

Stop spit shining the product and really think about how to set it apart from the competition. Get rid of legacy engineers and entire ops team (worst I've ever worked with) so that you can finally deliver.

    Pros

Good company and only way of survival is buyout

    Cons

Previous CEO was focussed on building products and new CEO is focussed on building his brand than building the company name and products. Revenues are diminishing and it will be a short-sale if no action is taken immediately.

    Advice to Management

Sell the company or go IPO. Otherwise shareholders are going to be frustrated

    Pros

    - Its in a hot space
    - They are desparate and will over promote to retain people.
    - Claims of culture

    Cons

    - The company does not invest in engineering
    - It is sinking, losing engineers and PMs everyday.
    - Top leadership is inexperienced and completely disconnected from reality. Hoping they can do some PR stunts and sell more software
    - Lacking a technical leader (new CTO is non-technical)

    Advice to Management

If you are unable to stay grounded please get someone grounded and listen to that person

    Pros

The company provides very strong benefits and decent compensation if you can negotiate well during the hiring process. Various small perks to the company such as catered lunches on Mondays, multiple kitchens with snacks and drinks and access to a variety of restaurants within walking distance. HR tries their best in trying to keep employees happy and relaxed by providing different events such as "Movie Day," Friday "Lounge" time and gym access.

    Cons

Training was very disorganized and felt segmented. Felt very inadequate to handle daily roles due to improper education and numerous bugs within the product leads to an endless amount of complaints and troubleshooting.

    Pros

    - Good for the A player looking for an easy gig so can work on side projects.

    - Good for B, C players looking for a paycheck or to build some skills (if that's possible).

    - Overall OK culture.

    Cons

    - Tech stack is such a mess that it takes 1-2 weeks to do 4-8 hours of work.

    - Too much manager circling around doing nothing.

    - Too much time spent on old technology stack instead of just putting it into proper maintenance mode and moving to something new (hint hint).

    - Bug bugs bug bugs. Man the web interface is loaded with UX/UI glitches. It's buggy. I mean it's really sad. The backend is a stinker too with loads of cruft from old projects and failed initiatives.

    Advice to Management

I think your destiny is set because you have competition that's blown you over. You don't have any real vision that I can see. No strategic leverage in the market. So I supposed just get bought up and that's about it. If I were the boss..

    1. Dump these managers for the most part they don't do well.
    2. Freeze the current stack except for enterprise.
    3. Build a new stack ASAP.
    4. Hire only A players and compensate them well.
    5. Come up with something that will add value beyond the "let's find a new shiny little interface for people to upload their files to [that's full of bugs]".

    Advice to Management

Reflect back to one the points in the Peanut Butter Manifesto, "lack of focus, accountability and decisiveness—were actually just symptoms of a deeper problem".

    Pros

YouSendIt is in an exciting space with players like Dropbox, Box, SkyDrive, etc. Brad Garlinghouse is on a mission to turn the company around.

    Cons

Very poor management that lack a clear vision, strategy, and goals. This results to employees that are unfocused and unmotivated. Management make poor decisions that negatively impact team morale. Functional groups lack necessary goals that are not aligned to company goals.

    Advice to Management

Evaluate whether the right people are in the right roles to successfully lead a team. Perform an extensive exercise to evaluate each departments' strategy and goals to ensure they align to the company goals and enable employees to succeed. Establish a clear identity in the market and then stick with it.
