Former Employee – worked at Hill-Rom full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Good benefits while you get to help patients and thier caregivers
Cons – The job will suck the life out of you. Micromanagers. Make you feel as if they do not trust you. They like to keep employees in the dark about future plans. Lead you to beleive they are doing things for one reason while the real reason is to get all of your contact informations so that they can get rid of you and provide the benefits of your hard work to some HS graduate at the corporate office to continue bringing in business from the relationships you formed.
Advice to Senior Management – Trust your employees and don't treat them like they are nothing more than a number on a peice of paper. Stop lying to your loyal employees then throwing them out like the trash in your trash can.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at Hill-Rom as a contractor for less than a year
Pros – 1. Product itself and what I learned while contracting was interesting.
2. Learned how to cope with difficult experience, which itself can be helpful.
Cons – 1. Very low morale.
2. Company culture not cooperative or synergistic.
3. Communication within and among departments seemed lacking.
4. Motivation-by-fear seemed to be the norm.
Advice to Senior Management – 1. Put priority on employee morale; hire outside consultants on this if necessary.
2. Avoid hiring or retaining managers (mid or senior) who "hold accountable" (threaten to fire) subordinates while they themselves fail to lead by example.
3. Judge progress of senior management itself by ability to retain employees (objective measurement) and by employee morale (subjective, gleaned by reading between the lines).
4. Whenever possible, encourage real cooperative productivity. Eg: assign projects and tasks to teams when possible rather than individuals.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Current Employee – been working at Hill-Rom
Pros – Terrific benefit package. 3 weeks vacation to start. Fun job.
Cons – Once you start with Hill-Rom, give up any hope of having a family life. You need to think Hill-Rom day and night. Time with family is simply out of the question.
Advice to Senior Management – Don't really believe management would take any advice. This job used to be about patient care, now it's about the bottom line. Start caring about the patients again.
