    Pros

401k is good compared to other companies I've worked at. Workers are relatively nice. It's real difficult to get fired. The company is unlikely to go bankrupt or have any major layoffs. Work load will keep you very busy and exhausted.

    Cons

Corporate culture here is demoralizing and cheap. Low cubicle walls provide a very distracting environment. There is no privacy to take even one personal phone call during the day because big brother is always watching you.
Due to high visibility of office layout, it becomes extremely discouraging to see favoritism displayed towards other departments. Management refuses to spend money on anything fun unless it is for the engineering dept. All other employees are not valued enough to keep happy and are treated as replaceable.
Time-off policy, work-life balance and bonuses are a joke. During the recent snow storms, people were expected to brave the elements or use their PTO. Those that used PTO had been "spoken to" for doing so. Those that braved the elements were barely rewarded with a bonus (cost of child care was more expensive than what they made for the day). This attitude is not characteristic in responsible companies.

    Advice to Management

Staff the departments reasonably by adding head count. Put every employee's well-being (and happiness) on the same or closer to the same pedestal as your profits. Deliver on the promises to employees made in their interviews.
Start treating every employee as valued. Make the time and effort to reward their hard work and service to the company by spending money on fun things for each and every department.
If you're not going to do this, then at least start hiding favoritism a little better or expect a high turnover rate in your work force.

    Pros

The stated company values ("Enhancing the outcomes of patients and their caregivers ...") make you feel good about working there. I started as a contract and was hired full-time after 9 months. As a full-time employee, I started with 2 weeks of vacation. I learned a lot in my three years with the company and had many opportunities to design new business processes and enhance existing processes.

    Cons

The company has experienced a loss in good managers in the last three years ... most of them strong, competent women that took with them logical next steps for the business. These managers were not replaced. When I started at the company, there was a clear path for my job. This vision has been lost.

    Advice to Management

Step out of the 80s, improve HR, treat your internal IT people with respect (and get them an IT manager), get rid of managers that use intimidation and scare tactics as motivators (it makes employees resentful), stop rewarding people because you like them or because they simply did their job, reward people for passion, hard-work and a caring attitude, stop giving managers discretion over compensation time and working from home have a stated policy as it should not fluctuate between managers.

    Pros

Some good people at the Cary office.

    Cons

Management is cluelesss and hates employees. Culture of the Cary office is horrible. They like to pretend that it's a fun culture with ping pong, video games, etc but nobody enjoys it or has fun. People are constantly scared about their jobs and the best talent leaves at the first chance.

    Advice to Management

Clean house at the Cary office and start from the ground up.

Hill-Rom is still a contender in medical capital equipment.

    Cons

This company has lost the culture that made it great. It is an awful place to be in sales or business development.

    Advice to Management

Fix the culture and fix the products. The mass exodus of talent will continue until you do.

    Pros

Good benefits while you get to help patients and thier caregivers

    Cons

The job will suck the life out of you. Micromanagers. Make you feel as if they do not trust you. They like to keep employees in the dark about future plans. Lead you to beleive they are doing things for one reason while the real reason is to get all of your contact informations so that they can get rid of you and provide the benefits of your hard work to some HS graduate at the corporate office to continue bringing in business from the relationships you formed.

    Advice to Management

Trust your employees and don't treat them like they are nothing more than a number on a peice of paper. Stop lying to your loyal employees then throwing them out like the trash in your trash can.
