I have been working at Hilton Worldwide full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Great pay and great benefits.

    Cons

Revolving door management. We go through them so fast that there is no consistency.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talk to your employees as peers rather than talking down to them. When new items are introduced give the staff a heads up so we don't look incompetent.

Pay and benefits for those in management are not competitive.

I worked at Hilton Worldwide full-time

    Pros

    - Nice managers/employees
    - Hotel discounts
    - Good work life balance

    Cons

    - Terrible salaries, even for those in management.
    - Expensive healthcare and benefits for those not in unions
    - No holiday pay, have to work on holidays unless you use your personal PTO for it. Same for sick days. Only 21 days a year for first 4 or 5 years there. Considering there are at least 8-10 federal holidays that most office employees in any company gets, you only have about 11 days left for any vacation or sick days every year.
    - Very stiff, dull culture without any effort by the company to increase employee satisfaction, don't expect any employee perks or bonding here!
    - Didn't provide a suitable office for their office workers, instead we were pushed into every unsellable, dark corner of the hotel.

Current Employee - Pastry Chef in Short Hills, NJ

I have been working at Hilton Worldwide full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The Pros of working as a Pastry chef in a Hilton is the prestige of saying I'm a chef at a great five diamond hotel. The hours were kind of typical of what you'd expect when you become a chef.

    Cons

I did not care for the work/life balance. The pay was poor considering I was a CIA grad. I actually had to supplement my income by working private parties there and working the carving stations at buffet lines and their brunches. I would never work in a hotel again as a chef.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your chefs more, especially when they come from the best schools.
