    Pros

Opportunity to work on a variety of projects in a variety of industries and technologies. Low power distance to management. Work with very talented people.

    Cons

Long term company strategy is unknown beyond growing to a billion dollar business. Why? What will that do for us? Company is very secretive about compensation - campus hires consistently being brought on at a higher starting salary than those campus hires from a year earlier. Campus hires being brought on at a higher salary than Senior Consultants I or II, which reflects market demand, but incredibly demoralizing. Moderate turnover at the Consultant and Senior Consultant level for this reason.

    Advice to Management

Although the company is transparent and the power distance is low in many regards, compensation and other benefit services are too secretive and taboo. Be the open, honest company we boast to be. Pay people just enough that they don't think about compensation and can stay focused on delivering excellence to the client and driving consistent revenue.

I have been working at Hitachi Consulting (More than a year)

    Pros

Great Benefit Plan, really good culture, solid leadership

    Cons

Political like a lot of large companies, takes a while to move up the chain, poor work/life balance like most consulting jobs

I worked at Hitachi Consulting full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Highly skilled, collaborative colleagues Good relationships with most major vendors

    Cons

The top leadership's desire to become a $B company through rapid acquisition had a negative effect on morale

    Advice to Management

Spend less time buying unknown talent, and more time working to retain the quality people that have already made Hitachi Consulting their home.

I have been working at Hitachi Consulting full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The people and smart and collaborative. I have a lot of flexibility whether to travel or not (likely due to my specialized area). I am compensated fairly.

    Cons

HCC is going through some growing pains due to multiple global acquisitions while also trying to grow the service lines outside of more classical ERP-type services.

I have been working at Hitachi Consulting full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great culture, strong leadership, and solid vision.

    Cons

The growth is surpassing the infrastructure and internal processes.

    Advice to Management

Support the consultants in the field with better support mechanisms.

    Pros

Great people. Good culture in former Andersen cities. Up and coming practice. Strong leadership.

    Cons

Value proposition has changed. Used to be a place that provided a culture of local work over travel. Now they have changed to a national model and no longer have p/l at the local market. Salaries for people who travel now have not been moved commensurate with value proposition change.

    Advice to Management

Get back to leveraged model and make sure you have consistency in how people are working on engagements. SM's should not be doing SC work.

    Pros

Opportunities to try different types of projects Many opportunities for training/learning Great people to work with

    Cons

At times (depending on project assignment), work/life balance can be difficult Across all of our locations, levels are not equal (meaning a Senior Consultant in one location doesn't have the same core skills as a Senior Consultant in another location)

    Advice to Management

    Keep lines of communication open

    Pros

The people provide a great working atmosphere.

    Cons

A smaller firm trying to compete with the larger firms, competitive pay is hard to come by.

    Advice to Management

Business decisions should be transparent regardless of what level the employee is
