Good company, but leadership is stretched too thin to focus on employees.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGood PTO, especially around Christmas-New Year's. If you don't prefer travel, management tries to find you local opportunities, however, travel is definitely part of the job. Good community presence, and college hiring program. Consulting Core program exposes new-grad hires to a variety of projects and technologies, so really good entry-level career.

ConsLeadership is stretched too thin to be able to focus on what the employees need. Lack of technical leadership due to turnover, so if you're in the technology practice, that should be a major career concern (but maybe this is the case only in my practice). Parent company (Hitachi Ltd.) imposes very challenging targets on the consulting group (Hitachi Consulting), so leadership is always busy chasing targets, losing sight of how to grow the practice, improving delivery quality and preventing turnover. Bonus is irregular, and compensation adjustment is not great, even when promoted.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on growing the practice organically by providing better training options, and empowering your consultants. Do more to prevent turnover, especially your quality employees and those with potential, or you risk becoming another mediocre consulting firm with a revolving door.

Good Future. Need to shape up

    Senior Manager (Current Employee)
    Pune (India)

ProsLeadership direction from a larger Hitachi makes it a very promising place from a future growth perspective. Good potential opportunities for the people.

ConsLimited growth @ GDC. Difficult to see how we will make the transition to the company of the future that the leadership talks about.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere is some good work happening in pockets which should be recognized. There are some inefficiencies especially at the mid management levels which need to be addressed.

Work from home option when on project.
Lots of training are being conducted.

    ConsDoesn't have good projects.
Long bench time period (4 months)
Only Hitachi Hyderabad is good. Pune is ok but Bangalore is worst.

    Hitachi consulting-inefficiency breading inefficiency

    Senior Consultant (Current Employee)
    Hyderābād (India)

ProsI see some fake positive reviews posted in the website to encourage people who are not aware about Hitachi consulting India to Join the organization, setting the record right to help aspirants who wish to join Hitachi consulting India, rest I leave it to their wisdom
The sickness in the company emanates from the stagnant senior management who has been around in the Organization since the inception of Sierra Atlanta which is later acquired by Hitachi consulting US.
Associate will see frequent re-org and organizational change (Happens every 6 months in India) to accommodate the fat cats, white elephants and their ego’s(by giving them flashy designations ,they are nothing when they are thrown out of organization) to make them relevant in a dynamic service industry, the fat cats and white elephants have formed a very strong nexus that they have absolutely insulated themselves from any KPI’s that exists in any IT industry, they get hikes all the time and performance is never measured or is applicable to them, the brunt is borne by associates who are hired for projects and fired when the project is completed ,this nasty hiring and firing game is played just because of having inefficient ,non performing heavy top management and fat packages given out to them which results in having zero tolerance to bench, in other words associate who joins them is looked upon as tissue paper which is expendable when the job(project) is done

ConsDue to the long stay in the organization the senior management has developed feudal recklessness while dealing with employees especially by senior management and sadly mid level management emulates them and even go to extent of massaging the egos of senior management for sake of survival this is a classic example of inefficiency breading inefficiency. Any new employee who is used to talking his mind and express his opinion when he joins will find himself in midst of ego mines and feudal minds which discourages any initiative or originality. What surprises me is that the senior management (I prefer to call them junk) is tolerated by an American company which has g a Japanese origin for non performance and inefficiency.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe damage that Hitachi consulting India is doing is that I wanted to buy A/C for the Indian summer and I did not buy Hitachi air conditioner in spite of being in the company for long time
