    I've hit a plateau

Lead Software Developer (Current Employee) Dallas, TX

ProsThe job is relatively stress free, management is good.

ConsToo fragmented, no true sense of team unity.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe consistent in how you handle personal issues with employees. When one employee has a personal crisis and the CIO is rallying everyone around the team and another employee has a crisis and the CIO doesn't so much as say a word, it demonstrates a problem with consistency.

Excellent opportunities for growth and career development

    Director (Current Employee)

ProsThe people I work with from the Manager level and above are very committed to the success of the company and their clients. There is an atmosphere that is very conducive to working together. Because it is a rather small company, relative to the major firms, it is like a family often times with all the pros and cons that entails. People are very sensitive to work life balance and try to do the best with helping you achieve a good balance.

ConsSome of the junior resources do not seem to be committed to building a career with the company, but are just trying it out to see how it goes. However, this may be a shift in the broader industry and not necessarily specific to Hitachi Consulting. The company has grown very fast in the last few years and the organizational structure is not yet optimal. Accountability for results needs to be stronger at the executive leadership levels.

Great culture and people, very difficult for lower levels

    Consultant (Current Employee)

ProsThe culture is very "work hard, play hard" which I really enjoy. The people are super fun and outgoing. It's a really fun group.

Cons-It's very difficult for lower level consultants to move up. You don't really get a choice in which projects you want, and you pretty much just take what you can get
-Compensation not as high as other firms
-No bonuses, they really don't reward hard work
    -hours can be really rough.

Advice to Senior ManagementGive bonuses to reward hard work. Some people work 12-14 hours a day and still only make the base salary (which is below average for consulting).

Great people, but slow sales engine and not enough incentives, both extrinsic & intrinsic to motivate employees

Manager (Current Employee) Los Angeles, CA

    Pros-People are engaged and willing
-Company has a well articulated vision
-Leadership is accessible, at least on a geo level

Cons-ELT is out of touch with what it takes to motivate and retain its knowledge center, meaning its employees
-Leadership keeps messaging that employees will be given more while taking more away from the. For example, they promised higher salaries, salaries have not noticeably increased. They promised more perks, but instead reduced cell phone expense cap.
    -Compensation model is terrible
-Leadership expects employees to sustain the geography by taking on additional tasks, but again, because the compensation model doesn't reward that participation appropriately, culture and enthusiasm for the firm is waning

Advice to Senior ManagementBegin by not treating your employees as if they are expendable. The future is all based on retaining and building upon knowledge and your existing employees are the most well-positioned to help the company grow and achieve its vision. It's more frustrating knowing our parent company is so wealthy, yet employees are so poorly compensated for their work and effort in building the firm.

Yet another corporate ocean in the making

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGood facilities while travelling (on the job). Flexible working.

Conslow compensation, lot of organizational changes happening though good for the company, affects most of the employees who dont get to speak up.

Advice to Senior ManagementRecognize the right employees who are dedicated in getting the work done especially those who are not under the radar of the management.

    – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
