I have been working at Holcim full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great collaborative culture between peers with very professional and extremely dedicated people. Projects offer opportunity of international exposure and good learning experiences. Path to personal growth exists - but you really need to know the right people. Good compensation.

    Cons

Personal development largely dependent on contacts and relation to higher managers. Some parts of the company are ignored by senior management, who plays them for political gain. Very slow decision making with opaque processes. Treats people too often as dispensable and replaceable. Too conservative in many respects, acts slow to take up innovation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Walk your talk and put your people first and work on improving your people promotion processes that remain too contact focused/applied erratically. Take care not to lose the collaborative culture of the company.

I have been working at Holcim full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Couple years back was a great place to work - great leaders, colleagues, culture. Creativity and minds were rewarded. Salaries were fare and overall stability was sensible. Some departments are still holding on to former company culture, which still inspires.

    Cons

No career perspective for even high performing individuals with proven track record of results. This company practically is chasing away minds and values only a certain type of attitude. Decision making is not transparent and very slow.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To be more result oriented and limit the promotion of people who talk, present and steal ideas of others, but add no real value to the firm.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do what you know about modern leadership and coaching. Trust your people.

    Pros

Good compensation and benifits is good, but other Regional Operating Head and Area Sales Manager are enjoying accusing their people.

    Cons

Holcim is good but there are some higher management employee (ROH) that no heart at all. They accusing their employee; dismissed without proper process.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please be stick to the policy, if the employee are accused for doing bad things, please deeply know where it came from, why things happened, and give them the due process. Create a steering committee, ask 3rd party to conduct investigation, and if possible, have an audit before giving their final decision.

Former Employee - Business Unit Manager in Brisbane (Australia)

I worked at Holcim full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Loyal and decent to employees. Have reasonable development programs although they are somewhat erratically applied. A gorwing company at an exciting point in the industry,

    Cons

Somewhat inflexible on career path. Do expect you to live and breath the job - at their infancy in work life balance. Can be very slow with new inititives - frustrating for an innovator.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at how to best use people rather than fill vacancies. Support innovation with more flexible approaches.
