The pay is really low. It is a fun job for a young kid, but not a career.

I worked at Holiday Inn Express full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

decent property and front desk wears uniforms which I like. Uniforms are provided.

    Cons

Favoritism between supervisor and certain employees. Do not give new employees enough training. It is more of a training for a day or two and then you are thrown out to the wolves.

I worked at Holiday Inn Express full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

An incredible chance to work with major strategic partners and learn a lot about long term planning. A large organization with plenty of opportunities. Also a terrific employee discount on hotel stays worldwide.

    Cons

At the time, the department was lead by fear, but the head of marketing has been changed. Those in leadership positions routinely showed favoritism - touch being on either end of that, and I experienced both.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Not at this time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

agents do every job title you have. You need to pay more to attention to what you are expected of them and the low pay you give them

I have been working at Holiday Inn Express part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I enjoy people and all different personalities and situations, therefore I enjoy the hotel industry. Days consist of passing a smile to resolving issues. If you are a quick thinker, take pride in your work and are able to communicate in a well manner, consider starting your work experience in a with the HI.

    Cons

Work - life balance is different for everyone. When you take on a job in the hospitality industry, expect to be on the giving end evenings, weekends and holidays. Some may see this as a negative but it may be ideal for someone trying to get through school or make some extra cash part time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It takes a dollar or two above minimum wage to get the most out of your employees. Make them feel like an asset as opposed to feeling dispensable.

I worked at Holiday Inn Express full-time

    Pros

decent job for anyone who needs work but nothing special

    Cons

nothing special about this employer. all hotels are individually owned and mostly foreign owned, so they will do anything to save a buck and pocket all the profit. if you need money it's a job but that's about it. hours not flexible as hotels are open 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

I have been working at Holiday Inn Express full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Fast pace work environment, which can make the job fun at times. You get a pretty a pretty good discount at IHG properties.

    Cons

There is no set schedule. I had to work all three shifts within the week. You also have to work on holidays. The pay is also low. There is rarely opportunity for advancement, the GMs tend to stick around for a long time

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your employees better (housekeeping and GSRs). Turnover would be much lower, and you would save money on training costs.
