    Pros

Meet great people, Great fellow employees, Discount at IHG properties

    Cons

Long lonely nights with little to keep you occupied outside of your work duties, Management can be hard to deal with at times especially if they are not familiar with the duties and demands of your position. Hard to please guests without angering management. Demanding owners who have little to no idea what it takes to be an outstanding front desk employee.

    Advice to Management

Seek out your strong employees and use them to lift up your weak links, provide as many opportunities as possible for your employees to grow both within your company and in their personal lives. NO MORE UNPAID MANDATORY MEETINGS!

    Pros

If you enjoy talking to guest, communicating with various friendly faces, this would be an ideal job for you. It's not strenuous, but there it is more than just checking in guest. You must handle different guest situations since we are the first people guest will complain or speak to and delegate who would be the best person to fix the matter whether it's maintenance, housekeeper, or manager. This job has opened me up since I did start off quite shy. The manager, coworkers, and housekeepers are mostly easy going. You even gain good relationships with regulars that come in who may also bring you food!

    Cons

The hotel I work for is independently owned so there's not much room for growth. There were no raises, but you are rewarded in other ways.

    Pros

It was a fun environment to work in, and they were willing to work with my schedule. It would work well for someone who is in school.

    Cons

Pay was not as much as I wanted it to be, and there were few opportunities for career advancement. Raises were also very small, and few benefits were offered.

    Advice to Management

Offer more employee benefits including more paid holidays. Promote more from within so that employees have more opportunities to advance their careers. This was one of the main reasons many of my co-workers left this job.
