Lies, Moles, Too Many Chiefs and Indians are burnt out and running for the hills!

Auto PD Claims Adjuster (Current Employee)
    Morrisville, NC

ProsNice coworkers, decent time off. FINALLY have a CEO with vision!!

ConsOutdated IT - shareholders want their money, but need to dump it into the 20th century technology - at the least!! Systems constantly glitching and going down. Unrealistic workload. Good employees leaving - or being driven away. Only ones remaining are supervisors and their moles, and they continue sucking the life out of anyone new that walks through the door. NO training - but promises for training. Weak attempts at promotions from within, but without tools and training, if you are not seasoned PD adjuster, you are doomed. Expensive insurance, top heavy company that does NOT respect, care or listen to employees. Poor compensation for adjusters because the workload has gotten out of control due to high turnover and you are forced to work 10-12 hour days and WEEKENDS just to keep your job from jeopardy! Don't replace adjusters that leave - but had a "study" done that showed adjusters workload unrealistic - but nothing changes!

Advice to Senior ManagementLISTEN to your employees - don't tell them the same lies and promise that "you know PD is broken and it will be fixed by Sept" and then take your "favorites" and put them on research projects, or lighten their load, while the people left are drowning and being mistreated by being forced to work 10+ hours per day with outdated platforms and IT and no real training. You need to clear out management or supervisors for PD - too much favoritism - rules are followed only for some - if you are the supervisor's mole, you get protected, promoted and a lighter load and can sit and talk and leave during the day for coffee...if you're not the supervisor's mole, and don't make her shine - you are micro managed and worked to death! REALLY LISTEN AND REALLY BE TRANSPARENT and TREAT all employees the same!!

    Company poised for improvement

    Account Executive (Current Employee)
    Springfield, IL

ProsNew CEO, improved distribution marketplace, greater focus on life cycle for target market, emphasis on teamwork model concepts, good benefits, and industry education programs

ConsChallenging technology systems that undermine processes and improvements. Various layers of organizational structure that impedes delivery on Customer experience and processes. Work life balance is challenging and needs improvement.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to instill the company's brand message, throughout the target market life cycle and life experiences. Invest in distribution force, technology, training, education, claims, operations and sales. Reevaluate the emphasis on layers of VPs in the company ranks and how each supports the company's goals and directions.

A company on the wrong path.

    Claims Adjuster (Former Employee)
    Irving, TX

    ProsMy co-workers were great.
    3 weeks of vacation.
The building in Irving, TX where I worked was nice with plenty of close parking.

    ConsHealth coverage is expensive.
The Vice President of claims left the company in early 2012. Not that it was great while he was there but the new regime has made numerous bad decisions. There has been a steady stream of adjusters leaving the company since. The training for new adjusters is awful and new hires are thrust into their positions where they are quickly overwhelmed with a large number of claims to handle. Most of your day is spent taking calls on other adjusters claims because they weren't available to take the call because they were probably taking a call on someone else's claim. A vicious circle which results in poor customer service and an unhappy staff.

Salaries need to raised. There are many other insurance claims offices in the area. You need to up the starting salary to attract better prospects. You have hired and trained many to do claims and then they leave because other companies will hire them at a much better salary.

Very few opportunities for advancement. Instead of developing personnel for management positions they hire off the street.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe training needs to be improved. The new hires who have no prior claims experience also need a mentor who can guide them on how to handle their claims more efficiently.

Unrealistic expectations without providing the tools necessary.

    Claims Counselor (Former Employee)

ProsFair Pay, 401k match, nice coworkers, willing to make drastic changes under new leadership

ConsTERRIBLE training, old technology, detached upper management , takes far too long to fill empty seats putting burden on the employees that are still working everyday.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't wait 9 months to fill the positions of people that have left it puts too large a burden on those that had tried to stay the course.

The only thing consistent is change

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

Pros401k and pension plan. Great coworkers on the employee level.

ConsConstant turnover, very limited growth opportunity, raises are minimal. Too many management level employees and not enough adjusters to actually do the work.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to the employees. Review the compensation plan. Need better and more affordable health insurance.

I recommend picking another company. Seriously

    Claims Counselor (Current Employee)
    Irving, TX

ProsA paycheck at the end of the week. You get your own cubicle. Great break room.

ConsExpect the training to leave you with virtually no knowledge of how to do your job. Unmanageable workload, constant complaints from customers, little time to complete assigned work, ancient sofware and processes. The turnover is out of control. A lot of new hires with no experience. The best employees that we had/have are gone or going to be leaving really soon. Don't expect your manager or upper management to consider your input. The health insurance is expensive.

Advice to Senior ManagementImprove ALL processes. Develop your employees. Innovate with a way to measure the success of the innovation. Listen to your frontline employees and consider their opinions. Management should partner with their subordinates to come up with real ways to move the company forward.

Very Poor Home Office and Management Support, Poor Products for clients

    Agent (Former Employee)
    Charlotte, NC

    ProsThe niche market of educators

ConsWhen you work very hard to build a client base, it is extremely frustrating when the company constantly creates problems with policies and has poor home office customer service. No matter how hard I worked to provide great service to my clients, the processing part always was a problem. The company is very behind in their methods and it became embarrassing to represent such a poorly run company. The management would not even respond to call or emails about important case issues or client complaints.

Advice to Senior ManagementOffer more support to your agents and involve yourself in the agency you are said to "manage"

IT - lots of opportunity, but don't value internal talent

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Springfield, IL

Pros401K AND pension. Big benefit improvement at AVP level and above. Many of the people are passionate about their work and want to do the right thing. Lots of opportunity available. You can create your own path.

ConsFor an insurance company, the health benefits are below average. No vacation for the first year if you are director level or below. Managers don't have time or desire to develop employees. Lots of great opportunities, but they won't 'show the money' for internal promotions. Raises once a year, but seem to be low. Seems like it's run more like a state agency.

Advice to Senior ManagementGrow, train and invest in your people. Grow or eliminate poor performers. Stop dawdling - make decisions! Make people the most important part of your business.

    OK

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Springfield, IL

ProsThey have great benefits! 3 weeks vacation to start is great. The people are friendly to one another. Continuing education is encouraged.

ConsThe health insurance is over priced and I am over worked, underpaid. I feel under-valued as an amployee who consistently gets good performance reviews

Advice to Senior ManagementValue employees who have good performance.
