More than reasonable amount of work and no clear future

    Former Intern - Anonymous Intern
    Former Intern - Anonymous Intern

I worked at Huawei Technologies as an intern

    Pros

Reputable company. Good to have on your resume.

    Pretty good pay actually.

    Cons

Workload is beyond reasonable. And you cannot do your best since there is just too much to do. Management brainwashes you with CEO's speech couple of times a year. So much pressure.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe working until death is not the only way a company can succeed.

I worked at Huawei Technologies full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Broad scope and lot of energy.
No one cares whether you accomplish anything or do nothing.
    Opportunity to travel.

    Cons

    Centrally controlled by headquarters.
You are not really able to get anything done as you would be in an American company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Establish clear goals and local leadership.

    Horrendous

Former Employee - Senior Product Manager in Santa Clara, CA
Former Employee - Senior Product Manager in Santa Clara, CA

I worked at Huawei Technologies full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

None. I made some good friends and learnt a lot about how NOT to run a business.

    Cons

Bad product, no professionalism, very incompetent people from China who don't understand technology or business. All the good ones are in companies like Cisco. There's a reason why people with great skill sets don't join Huawei.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Close shop.

I have been working at Huawei Technologies full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Diversity of exposures to multiple technologies

    Cons

Total lack of visibility into strategies and motivations for what our goals are. Control is kept in China and the employee is a disposable resource, a soldier, asked to do things.
Huawei has no trust in its employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Compensation is not competitive and local US incentives have been created by Chinese HR leaders who have no experience of this market. An annual $5k bonus as a retention incentive for example will not do anything.
