    I worked at Humana

    Pros

If you have a reasonable supervisor, this can be a great job.

    Cons

I recently resigned from Humana because of what may be the worst boss in America. The job is intended to be a good balance between work and home but this boss tracked every second of the day. Her management style was akin to that of Joseph Stalin. I attempted to work with her on her style but it only angered her and created even greater resentment which in return was met with greater micro management, constant criticism and bullying. Humana can be a great place to work but be sure you are getting a good boss.

    I worked at Humana

    Pros

They pay very well for being an over qualified telemarketer

    Cons

The company is not interested in your skills, they just want your title and expect you to be an overpaid telemarketer. No concern for employees. No guidance or desire from management to help you grow withing the company, as promised from day one.So disappointed to have worked there. I would have rather just kept my positive opinion I had of Humana when I was just a regular customer.

Downsized Employee in the Underwriting Department

    I worked at Humana

    Pros

There aren't really any pros. I am not saying this because I was downsized. It was the best thing that ever happened to me. The severance and unemployment and continued insurance was great.

    Cons

While working there I thought I would be given opportunities to grow and move up in the company since I was college educated. I soon found out experience, being a conscientious worker, going above and beyond and caring about my job and my customers did not matter. I worked on extra projects but that was never acknowledged. I solved problems for my boss that no one else had the answers to. She took the credit and downsized me. She accidentally sent an instant message to me that should have went to someone else saying she was better than me at everything including working on the computer and that she was not impressed with me at all. I sent the message to HR but they said oh your name was not on it. I replied doesn't it bother you that someone in authority is talking horribly about her employees? They chose to ignore the comment. But in the mean time every time there was a problem that no one in the department could figure out she came to me and I was dumb enough to take care of it. I was sexually harassed while there which was ignored and told I was a butt kisser. I had a male employee play with himself while standing in front of my desk. I did not know what to do since I knew HR would not help me and he was friends with the management which is all that counts at Humana. You do NOT have to work if you have a friend in management. They will just pass your work to people like me.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep hiring all your friends and covering for them. Just dump all the work on the employees who are trying to take pride in there work. Also keep pitting employees against each other so you can maintain the hostile work environment that exists there.

I worked at Humana full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Supervisor would allow you to use vacation time as needed whether it be for a sick child or just time off.

    Cons

Managers, supervisors and directors had no clue about the job itself yet wanted to tell everyone else that they were not getting numbers and that QA was poor. NO communication between corp and my department other than to smack hands and say you did this or that wrong. Management acted as if it would be a crime if we requested the same training for us that corp coders had from their management yet they had no advice when I asked them questions about a record. Mgt too concerned about looking pretty or visiting with the "chosen" associates about what they did the night before. My job did not seem ethical and once one of the supervisors even said..when we are done raping Medicare. Turns my stomach to think insurance is so expensive yet people standing around visiting instead of working. Humana needs to open their eyes and take note of where all the money goes in this company. Terrible when prices go up and up yet their employees will not work so they need to hire a few to carry the load. Humana isnt the only company out there like this but this was my own personal experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get focused, be a manager instead of visiting all day and allowing the dept to be a mess. Actually learn the job that the employees are doing so that you can be there for them when questions arise.

I have been working at Humana full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Flexible work schedules. Ok pay and benefits. Nice to say you have worked for Humana. Indoor gym. Nice Cafe.

    Cons

Extreme favoritism. If you are not apart of the favorites, be prepared to be a slave. Perks for the favorites: include only having to be on the phones three hours a day the rest of the time you get to go into " projects". If you are in the slave group you are stuck on the phones your full eight hour shift. When the favs do take calls their phones are set to receive one call to the slaves three. If your team lead does not care for you, you will not be asked to do anything else be stuck on the phones. While the team lead and the favs laugh it up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Screen who you hire to be a team lead. Favortism makes for an unhappy work

    Pros

Looks great on your resume! LinkedIn ;)

    Cons

Unprofessional. Surface and "talk" are golden, beneath surface the reality of that company is disgusting. I am so glad I left DMS sales. Horrible company. Don't be afraid of other insurance/sales options out there. I am so much happier and now know my value where it's appreciated! :) I'm sure my old fellow DMS co-workers agree!!!!

    CLEAN HOUSE with your management.

    Pros

My supervisor, had empathy, but unable to help with the amount of workload.

    Cons

Everything! Do not work here unless you like to disappoint your patients. I felt it was against my ethics to work here. My patients would tell me that Humana sucked and what was I to say to them but "I agree". They company makes it very hard for patients. Meanwhile they are redoing their corporate offices in marble. Priorities are so wrong! Corporate America at its finest!!
