    Pros

The medical benefits are fair and they allow you to work at home.

    Cons

No professional growth, no work life balance. Long hours that your are not compensated for but expected to take on more work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clear and concise directions, remaining with one idea and not changing the rules every week.

    Pros

Decent Money is offered for most employees.
The Cafeteria food is high quality, though a bit pricey.
A Gym membership available which is convenient.

    Cons

Upper management is corrupt and it's all about who you know.
Essentially the worst elements of high school life glorified.
The HCPR department is complete chaos and ego.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Retire.
Let someone more dignified take the reigns. Stop flattering yourself at the expense of other human beings livelihoods.

I worked at Humana full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Pay is good, time off allowed is ample, 401k matching and vitality programs are excellent.

    Cons

It may just be the different call center type rolls, but I have honestly never worked for a company that was so accepting of mediocrity, or that allowed such blatant racism within its employee ranks. My fiance still works here and and cannot stand it, she comes home crying every night because someone on her "team" was attacking anything she said and gesturing like they were going to "jump" her because she is not the same color. It is apparent that this is racist behavior because these people act the same way toward all individuals of a certain race, and not toward ANY individuals of their own. The mediocrity is that they allow such trash to work there and not do their jobs correctly causing problems for everyone else who works there. I have never before felt so awkward and alienated as I did working for Humana. It is also very difficult to advance to any supervisory type rolls, many people stay a specialist because people only move up if they have been there for several years (5+) and only if they are lucky at that point.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees like people, not numbers, and you will find they are more willing to work their hardest for you.

I have been working at Humana full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Free public transportation to and from work.

    Cons

Middle management is self absorbed and upper management is blind to this fact.
Favoritism is always chosen over knowledge and skill.
Management doesn't care about lower level employees.
They outsource to foreign countries to save a dime.
They care more about making profit.

    I worked at Humana full-time

    Pros

The benefits are good and start day one. Also they offer great education assistance.

    Cons

Treat hard working employees like they are dispensable. Do everything in their power to ensure certain people receive raises. Confusing instructions and day to day last minute changes. Managers speak to you unprofessionally. They dont every want you to take time off no matter the reason. Expectations to be perfect are extremely high.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees the way you want to be treated. Pay hard working employees what they are worth to stop your high turn over rate. Get rid of the combative atmosphere and the gossiping. Eliminate the favoritism and the need to hire only Latin Americans. This is in reference to the management at CarePlus which is a Humana owned company.

    Pros

Cant think of any positives right now I have nothing to report as a positive

    Cons

If you aren't a butt kisser you do not get anywhere. If supervisor doesn't like you they make your life miserable so that you quit. Unfriendliest bunch of people when you meet them in the hallway. You are invisible and it's almost impossible to get even a hello out of them. When you ask a question it takes forever to get an answer. Benefits are horrible compared to other plans that clients have b

I have been working at Humana full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

This Company offers a good salary and the option to work from home and/or a flex schedule, to most employees.

    Cons

This company has diminished its ability and/or desire to see beyond the financial bottom line...pushing inventory no matter the outcome, errors, or dissatisfied clients. As a result, the atmosphere, employee commitment and overall focus to provide quality service and a product that is accurate and beneficial across the board, is virtually non-existent...on any level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Honesty is the best policy. Listen to your seasoned employees and utilize the knowledge they have gained and developed...your employees are no longer vested beyond their paychecks.

I have been working at Humana full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Descent hours and work like balance. Wonderful people to work with and steady employment.

    Cons

You have to fight with HR for raises. Instead of your role being a promotion, they will tell you it's an extention of your current role. By doing this the pay increase if very minimal. Coming in the company externally, you're taken care of. Internally you're not.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Show what our pay grades are. You're told to contact HR, and when you do you're given the run around. I've never worked for a company where I've had to fight in order to get a yearly raise. I've never worked for a company where i don't know my pay grade or salary range either. NOT GOOD!

I have been working at Humana full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Pay, 401k match, flexible work from home, flexible for time off

    Cons

Immature IT processes, never worked so many unplanned weekend days, insurance coverage is weak, IT teams choose there own SDLC (agile, waterfall, hybrid). There is a ceiling for technical workers - must either move into management or architect position. Too many meetings.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

SDLC needs to be standardized across company and enforced. First level IT management needs to be closer to the work with fewer layers between. Emphasis on team building amongst associates within and across teams.
