I have been working at Huntington National Bank full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The people (low level from district managers down) really care but upper management doesn't give a single thought to the lives of the employees that have been duped into believing that this is the way that banking should be done.

    Cons

There is a tyrant working amoung us. They talk about the shadow of the leader, but the leader knows nothing about what really happens at his own bank because he has scared every employee from his own Sr Executive committee down so much that noone has the balls to tell him what he needs to hear. He and his "plans" have done nothing to further the position of his shareholders and infact has demolished what was once a wonderful place to work. He needs to admit to himself that he doesn't know how to make real revenue and that expense cutting is not the way to pull the wool over the eyes of Wall Street. Wall Street can not be tricked, especially by an egomaniac that believes that his way is always best.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management has no clue what is really going on. They will see a mass exiduce soon and then wonder why. Work lide balance means nothing to them. They have no clue what a relationship bank is because they are product pushers that have pissed off their own customers by doing just that. They claim to "do the right thing" but don't follow it themselves. This CEO has done nothing but erode the very fiber of this bank as well as the feeling of truly doing the right thing for their customers and colleagues. The sales force is beat down on a daily basis after doing evetything they can. Steve has ruined everything good about this company and the shareholders should have been rewarded by now but haven't with this small time $9 stock. Start listening to your people rather than ruling them like Vobst did from his ivory tower many yeard ago. Steve has given up every bit of fee income by painting us into a corner with 24hr grace making anyone who might have purchased us years ago run because they can not win with this bank. Who can buy us now and roll back this ridiculous 24 hr grace and win? What a mess! Sr Management does not get rid of those doing nothing, they keep shifting bodies around like they will just do better in another place but really don't have the experience to actually change anything. The shifting seems to be so that Steve can stay the tyrant, OCD, kibg that his insecure little mind needs until he has completely destroyed a once profitable mid weat banking empire. Congratulations for getting what you wanted, far too much money to slap a coat of paint on the place and thinking it will make a difference.

I have been working at Huntington National Bank part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Everyone is very friendly and training is well organized.

    Cons

Compensation is below average and the ability to grow within the company is very difficult. Receive bonus based on customer service score which isn't a good marker of how well you perform

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay people more for their time and effort.

I have been working at Huntington National Bank full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent coworkers. Huntington hires great people, overall. Have enjoyed that part of the job.

    Cons

Great products and they treat customers well. .better than their employees. High sales goals for most positions and pressure to meet them. Little pay for the customer abuse and constant pressure. Always feel at risk of job loss.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better pay. Fewer goals, more appreciation.

I have been working at Huntington National Bank full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The people I worked with were amazing and I formed many close relationships. They offer great benefits and there are many opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

Policies and expectations change almost constantly. I was fired from my position for violating a policy that they had never informed me of. I filed for unemployment and they denied it for weeks saying that I was aware of the policy that I had violated. In the end, they had no proof that they had ever informed me of the policy change. I have heard of many similar cases from other people who have been fired from Huntington. Their expectations of their employees is inconsistent and makes for a very unstable work environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please be clear with your employees what their expectations are and work with them when they don't line up with what previous managers have expected, because there will be huge discrepancies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It is the little people who is the back bone of the company. You need to make benefits more affordable.

I have been working at Huntington National Bank full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    Coworkers, 401k, time off allowances

    Cons

Management, expectations, changing sales goals to a point where you can't reach them, 10 cent raises if you are lucky, terrible medical benefits and cost, always fearful of getting written up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Inspect what you expect, look over the compensation and ask yourselves "can our loyal, talented employees survive on this?" Concern yourself with the everyday struggles and anxieties that the middle and lower management causes the little people.

I have been working at Huntington National Bank (more than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are amazing. 401k, great health benefits, great cause Paletonia

    Cons

Every time you turn around they are asking for donations, they place less emphasis on the customer and more on numbers, managers are stretched so thin that promises are always broken. Short staffing is causing call volume to spike out of control.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

We are turning into chase and that is NOT our culture. Value your employees, stop making excuses and set an expectation for customer behavior when they call in. We have been taking a beating lately

I have been working at Huntington National Bank part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Quite a few parts of the job itself are bearable and good learning experience in banking and customer service.

    Cons

Where do i begin? Centralized training and then you get to the branch and everything is different. Its a "boys club" and most branches have employees that have been there since the dawn of time. Every branch is run along corporate guidelines but as the manager feels fit. Hr and upper management won't back you up if you have a legitimate complaint and much more.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reevaluate management at the branch level.
