    Pros

Promotion from within is consistent and jobs are routinely available. The applying process is easy to use and there is typically constant communication through HR. Those that perform are rewarded. There are some great managers/leaders and there are some managers that need coaching to become leaders.

    Cons

Some managers don't promote the best interest of their employees. Top management should be more involved with their management teams to hold them accountable. Reviews are one-sided and may include inaccurate information that can't be disputed.

    Advice to Management

Value and respect your employees. Evaluate managers to ensure they are not stifling employees and creating morale issues.

    Pros

It's a good learning experience. The opportunity to manage a sales office topped with learning the lows and highs of the financial industry. During the time I worked, we received stock options, wich was a great asset. The trips and other bonuses were nice, especially if you met sales goals.

    Cons

unrealistic sales goals, stress from upper management. THe employees worked hard to meet goals that were unreachable. You were in competition with other HNB offices within a 10 mile radius. Too many hours are spent working on sales goals and not enough time is spent on keeping employees happy.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to employees

Led with a culture of fear, but good benefit packages, might be a solid stepping stone for some

    Pros

Solid benefits package, i had a good bit of personal freedom in my work, time off exceptional, most of the general perks of working for a large Company exist here. Some managers do a good job considering the culture of fear. seems branding is improving.

    Cons

always worried about your job from one day to the next, constant layoffs and new hires-then cycle repeats, some very senior managers are really nasty individuals, merger with Sky Bank was rugged.

    Advice to Management

Overall, this organization eventually needs to find its team and stick with it. We had gone through 3 firing cycles from 2008-2010. I was not personally terminated, but you always had to worry no matter your performance. Many long-term solid employees were constantly concerned about their status from one day to the next. As a very high level senior manager told me once in confidence, "There are really only a handful of people here that are not worrying about being canned." I think that holds true across the board.

    Pros

The PTO is great. It's hard to get fired from there.

    Cons

Where it's hard to get fired, on the contrary it's easy to get laid off. Merit raises do not reflect a difference between top and bottom performers.

    Advice to Management

The IT department's service is not as good as it was when it was in house. Bring it back in house so you can control the level of service. IT employees will feel a part of the company, which would result in better performance.

    Pros

Excellent products, chances to earn bonuses, locations nice, coworkers and customer base nice. Benefits are pretty good.

    Cons

Long hours, stretching staff to cover hours is difficult. Micromanagement with regard to sales, and behaviors. It is their way or else, and their way is NOT always the best in every situation. Give us credit for knowing how to react to different situations. Computers need to run quicker. Always in a rush, expected to do 5 or 6 things at the same time. Have customer engagement scores based on each employee not the branch as a whole.

    Advice to Management

Try to concentrate on quality and not quantity all the time. Happy customers stay and refer their friends. It is not always about selling wigits. Sunday hours need to stop and Saturday is also too long.

It has definitely been like walking on eggshells at times. Plenty of room for advancement if you're a brown noser.

    Pros

Great PTO time. After working here for five years I received four weeks of PTO on top of the already paid holidays off. I also get a matching 401K. The insurance isn't the best but I do have it and it works. Its not horrible, just not awesome. Some departments are very relaxed while others definitely have high expectations and pressure. Overall a good place to get a "good start." I started as a teller and was able to work my way up. It takes a little bit of time but one of the few places you can start with a high school diploma and then work your way up thru experience.

    Cons

Sometimes others will be offered promotions based on them being a "favorite." It is rare that it is ever really because of skill. Also, do not complain often to HR. You will be like the poster child that wants or is asking to get fired. If they know you are complaining, they will try to make you want to leave or make you resent every working day you are there. Integrity? Throw it out the window. There's none of that here.

    Advice to Management

Take a good look at the dedicated employees that follow the rules, day in day out. Start looking beyond that cleavaged filled shirt. If you're downsizing, observe for a couple weeks and you'll realize who needs to go quickly. Get rid of the slower ones, the socializers. There are people who would actually be able to do the work with just a little bit more pay. Don't pay the slackers. Luckily, with the new CEO this is probably the way he is leading us toward anyway.

    Pros

There is plenty of room for career growth.

    Cons

Long hours, open 7 days a week. Work a lot of overtime they don't tell you about. Hires a lot of people with no banking experience leading to many errors and problems. Won't allow you to move up until you've served 1 year in current position, even if you're the best fit for the job.
