    I worked at Hyder Consulting full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    They trained me ready to get a real job where paid fairly and actually appreciated. 1/4 pay rise on leaving after 7 years of false promises. They provide an all round experience, there is no concept of dedicated roles any more that was abolished by Ivor so you whatever you role in the company or personal strengths you will have to do everything from business acquisition, project management, financial reporting/management as well as your actual job.

    Cons

    Pay 2/3 of national average to start, constant promise but absolutely no chance of ever getting market rate. Stupidly waited over 7 years on false promises that never happened. Atmosphere in office is very depressing. No attempt to counter offer on leaving, just an announcement that getting replaced by 4 people in Bangalore.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    All stick and no carrot, management uses fear of redundancy to try and motivate staff which does not work except for the lucky ones that achieved redundancy. Pay market rates and stop giving false promises that things will get better and never do unless you leave. The happiest Hyder employees you will ever meet are ex-employees.

    Good for engineers
    Excellent at under appreciating, under utilising most mid-level professionals.

    Cons

    A culture of false promises and 'legacy managers'
    Plays it 'safe'

    Pros

    Brand name.
    European company in a Middle Eastern culture (it actually makes a difference in your salary).

    Cons

    Poor management.
    Too much politics.
    Lack of strategic view.
    Regional managers are neither good managers nor are they great technical leaders.

    Revamp your Middle Eastern operations.
