    Pros

Large company, name recognition, some work from home work/life balance benefits, good health insurance regardless of the constant increases

    Cons

Too bureaucratic due to the immense size and the company has lost touch with employees treating them openly as resources /numbers vs actual valued, associates.

    Advice to Management

Change management is needed here in North America,... to heighten morale and re-introduce the faith that the VPs actually care about the associates...NOT GLOBALLY but here in the US and Canada.

    Pros

Great opportunities, to learn different platforms, services, offerings.

    Cons

No Management leadership, direction, involvement. Management never learns from mistakes, you can reinvent the wheel every day. Management cries wolf too many times, they do not know how to manage the customer. Every employee is on death row waiting for the call to come in that you are no longer needed.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Learn from your mistakes. Manage your customer and quit blaming others when you should be pointing to yourself.

    Pros

Some smart people, average benefits and pay

    Cons

Poor product management, leadership, horrible management and evaluation process. "You can find better [than IBM], but you can't pay more." is spot on. Not leaders in any product, service or industry or geography that they compete in. They will advance a woman or minority over much more qualified individuals.

    Advice to Management

    Quit

    Pros

Great International Company in the IT field

    Cons

Upper Management cares nothing about their employees

    Advice to Management

Start paying attention again to employee morale or your workforce will just be out for themselves and will not care at all about the company.

    Pros

IBM does a great job hiring amazing people. You'll find almost everyone is dedicated, hard working & professional and has a genuine interest in their customers success.

    Cons

Unfortunately IBM does not offer job security. Every year they lay off thousands of talented people (also known as RA's or resource actions). The humanity is completely lost, especially when the layoffs have code names such as this last round "project chrome".

    Advice to Management

There are way too many middle managers. Rather than laying people off to better your financials, take a pay cut or skip the bonus. Figure out how to utilize the talents you have and budget better rather than flip peoples lives upside down. Also, stop with the mandatory requirement of first line managers having to give out a percentage of low PBC ratings.

    Pros

IBM offers great insurance and the ability to work from home in most cases. Unlimited sick leave. Great training depending on your dept. Great people to work with.

    Cons

Yearly layoffs are no longer surprising, There is no investment in employees. Sickening minimal increases are laughable. Many jobs moved out of the US...but not identified as outsourcing b/c IBM is a global company.

    Advice to Management

Tell your employees the truth...when it's time to look somewhere else, let people know. Stop bragging about how much cash we have and how many acquisitions we make.

    Pros

Great benefits, if you are young you can make it for a little while, just be sure your division is mentioned in annual report to shareholders,

    Cons

Don't care about employees, layoffs every year (sometimes twice a year), slow at being innovative, cares about IBM bottom line NEVER employee, rarely get pay increases

    Advice to Management

Get back to putting "trust and personal responsibility in ALL relationships". You can start by caring for YOUR employees. Employees spend more time worried if they will have a job instead of doing their job. Employees run a business, so care for them before your bottom line. Don't be a bunch of greedy pigs, eventually you will get slaughtered.

    Pros

Great place to learn new technologies, company invests a lot in training employees appropriately

    Cons

No room to grow, no career opportunities and advancement, they pitch that after one year you can move on to other roles within the company, but the opportunities are not there, and usually movements are lateral with no pay increase.

    Advice to Management

    None.
