    Pros

If you are a self-starter, the company has many opportunities to promote and grow at your own pace. Many practitioners will personally encourage your development as a junior consultant.

    Cons

IBM is a major company and it is very easy to be lost amongst the masses. There is constant competition among peers and can be extremely difficult to navigate your networks.

    Advice to Management

Develop better communities and mentoring opportunities so that consultants do not feel like they are a small fish in a huge sea.

    Pros

Strong support and training available, smart colleagues, (relatively) stable company, always a challenge around the corner. IBM treats it's entry level employees fairly well, and the health care offered is fantastic.

    Cons

Like others have said, as a consultant prepare to work long hours with clients that may not hold IBM in the highest regard. Also, in the near 2 years I've worked here, the companies financial performance has been declining. That has definitely reduced morale around the office, and the feeling by those around me is "why try hard this year, there are no bonuses anyway"

    Advice to Management

With improved financial performance overall, it would be a better place to work. I know that's not an easy ask.

    Pros

Great people in S&D and excellent MGT... GBS could use some classes in how to treat employees with respect and not verbal abuse - Just a few bad apples and it rolls down from there. But other manager are great and will help you all they can!! Some of the smartest people in the world!

    Cons

You work in your job description and that is about it.. NOT too much room to branch out BUT lots of mobility across the silos after your 2 year commitment. Be sure you manage your our career as it is up to you to get ahead... Negotiate pay on the way in as in sales... that is where your base stays.... ONE you leave - you will be labeled "IBM" and the employer will assume you cannot sell without the entire BUS.. so other jobs are difficult to get... but you will get lots of interviews since IBM has good reputation..

    Advice to Management

explain to employees that they need to manage their own careers as their managers will not...

    Pros

Big emphasis on training it's employees if you are in a customer facing role whether it is sales or technical it is required that you not only attend but pass Global Sales School and it is intense!

    Cons

Big emphasis on reports, certifications in your field. If you're in a technical role your success is contingent on your sales specialists success and your bonus payout is paid quarterly. You are ranked among your peers and pay grade so, there is no guarantee that you will get a payout. Pay raises are only given to the top 1%

    Cons

As an accounting company, expenses are managed maniacally Being so big, things move and change very slowly
