    Pros

Worked at IBM for over 30 years. It used to be a wonderful place to work, with talented people and best of breed hardware/software. It no longer is that company and the best that can be said of it is flexible work from home and somewhat flexible work hours. Pay/benefits are average.

    Cons

Company used to be run by engineers, but now is run by the finance department. Minimal investment in it's people and R&D over the last 15 years and everything is now spent on stock buy backs. Most of the experienced and talented people are now gone. The existing set of customers are really paying the price with the current product set and services now offered. It used to be that having IBM on your resume was a good thing... I'm not so sure anymore, as it was harder and harder to get good college talent to come to IBM.

    Advice to Management

Quite frankly, resign. This is/was a technology company that needs to be first run by real engineers that have a vision for the future. In the long run, nobody really cares what the stock price will be 13 weeks from now. Existing management is destroying a once great company.

    Pros

    Challenging work, variety of work

    Cons

Overworked, underpaid compared to nearby companies, lack of innovation, lack of future

    Advice to Management

All middle management and above should be fired...they lost sight of what is important. You have to spend money to make money (and I don't mean buy back stock and buy companies).

    Pros

There used to be Pro's. Management removed them one by one until there was nothing left.

    Cons

Management and executives are absolute idiots. They treat employees like we are garbage. No raises, no promotions, no education, no pension, no affordable healthcare after retirement. Hopeless. If you object management tells you that there are a thousand Indians who would love to take your job, so be thankful you still have it. IBM is rapidly replacing all of their US employees with Indians, Brazilians, and even Africans. They do everything they can to get the CHEAPEST labor possible and as soon as they do they kick their US employees out the door. Executives try to fool investors into thinking they are making money by buying back stock at a horrendous rate while all the time IBM's revenues are drying up. This is not a technology company, it is a farce.

    Advice to Management

QUIT. You guys are nothing but politically correct idiots. Romety is a fool and so was Palmisano. Look what you have done to the stock value. There is more downside to come as the world sees more and more clearly that IBM is nothing but a farce.

    Pros

    20 years ago, great company

    Cons

not employee focused, all about the financial results, this week.

    Advice to Management

Get back to basics, respect for the individual and recognize accomplishments

    Pros

I learned a base understanding of becoming a financial analyst. That's it, nothing more. Stayed at the base - thanks to the location in Rochester, Minnesota.

    Cons

The level of work (extremely entry level), the atmosphere (felt like I was in college), seemed like there were 300 analysts and 2 managers (no real growth positions), cheap, we had to vacuum our own offices. Yay.

    Advice to Management

Open up the pocket book and entire your employees to stay a bit longer.

    Pros

Pros? Are there any? I don't think so.

    Cons

    Salaries are 20% below industry.
    Executive management is incompetant

    Advice to Management

Management is obviously unable to make rational business decisions, so no advice would work. Continue plowing to the 2015 Roadmap and watch your company continue plummeting.

    Pros

Schedule flexability on non close work days

    Cons

No Raises in 7 years, added work load without compensation, salary based so no pay for extra hours worked in month and quarter close. Too many layers of management.

    Advice to Management

Think about the customer and the employee instead about your personal wealth. Listened to many of the top level people give speaches at site meetings that "It is our time to be rewarded ".

    Pros

Barely working 30 hours a week
    Easy work
    Good work life balance
    I chill all the time
A monkey could do your work (I guess its a good and bad thing, depending on your perspective)

    Cons

    Not enough work
    Work is meaningless
Work is repetitive, a monkey could do it
    No room for growth
    Office politics suck
Someone got an offer to move to a different industry and the second line manager rejected it! They don't want you to grow and do better things.

    Advice to Management

Give us a chance to shine and balance the workload. Give us an incentive to do a good job.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

I have nothing good to say at this point

    Cons

20% underpaid versus the market, pay freezes, bonuses are almost unheard of, all decisions are made based on the 2015 roadmap which means they are focused on reducing costs at all costs with no thought to the long-term ramifications

    Advice to Management

Wake up, morale in both hardware and software is absolutely non existant. You've taken pretty much everything possible away (secretaries, supply cabinets, Thanks awards, snow removal from the parking lots, pensions, bonuses). Everyone I talk to on a regular basis is actively looking for other employment.
