    Pros

Excellent opportunities to learn â?? Free in class training and online learning (Valued at $500 to $3000 for non IBMers), access to all IBM products, time given to learn new skills required for the job, on site library, online books.
Great management â?? Smart, ready to give advice, interested in employees, no micro management.
Good feedback system â?? Everyone you work with has an input and no ranking system with coworkers
Tim Hortons on site and on site cafeteria (but its a bit pricy)
On site gym and lot of extra work activities (outdoor sports, yoga, pool, ps3s, community events, etc)
Great team environment and friendly coworkers.
    Competitive salary
     Discounted certifications
Well respected company (Your experience will be valued)
Interesting projects on world renowned products
    Company discounted tickets and vouchers

    Cons

Depends on your team, but personally I found some senior management to be bad in project management and some low performing workers getting awarded for non work related tasks.
Big company so some processes take much longer than they should
Lack of communication/co-ordination between IBM groups â?? Sometimes the same work is done by 2 different groups and they start competing against each other.

    Advice to Management

Dont give awards to underachievers as it creates a bad team atmosphere. Better manage projects by understanding stakeholders and by having a fixed time for project deliverables.

    Pros

It matches my interesting. It provide very good environment. We often have comping and play event. People often get back to home very early. Often have tea time and tech talk. The people are all very nice and like to share knowledge and experience in IBM. The collaboration is very good, we often use instant messenger to help each other even we are in different location.

    Cons

The food in cafeteria is expensive. We often have tech talk in each Research Center, however, we cannot see all the talk on-line. It will be much better if IBM provide free drink and free food.

    Advice to Management

    Very good management.

    I worked at IBM

    Pros

-I received real and meaningful projects
-I was trusted to "sit in" (most conversations took place over the phone) in meetings to better understand the business

    Cons

-I was not able to meet all of the team members and most of it was over the phone
-It is hard to have a good relationship with people as an intern if you do not work in an office and have to reach out via email or phone when still learning the ropes of jobs

I worked at IBM as an intern

    Pros

The people at IBM Design have amazing personalities and are just fun to be around. Everyone is like family, and they all enjoy being at work.

    Cons

The fact that IBM is so big causes the company to have relatively slow processes and a way of doing things that, to me, limits innovation and creativity.

    Pros

    - the working hours is flexible.
    - it is located outside of the city hence there is not a lot of traffic.
    - the team is very supportive and the managers were also very helpful.

    Cons

    - the software itself is 20+ old. hence, it is very complex to understand the architecture.
    - most of the people working in the team are quite senior and I was one of the few people in the 20s.

    Pros

The culture around IBM is definitely one of change. Its obvious that the company knows that it currently thinks/operates like a dinosaur and is trying to modernize both its operations and its software development styles.

    Cons

Still a dinosaur. In my experience they used old tools, old methods of software development, etc. I even saw developers email code to each other while I was there!

    Advice to Management

Give your interns cooler stuff and more fun events that are paid for by the company. While it is certainly a little dumb for us young folks (and coincidentally better engineers/designers) to be swayed by a company flying us out to Seattle for a Macklemore concert, it does, so take note.
