I have been working at IBM as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

IBM has good hours and good culture. Each team is different so you might have a really good or really bad time, or get interesting or mundane work (as an intern)

    Cons

Work and responsibility depends on the team you are in. Quite a big company and thus it is political. Pay isn't top gear and reputation is only strong in some areas

I worked at IBM as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

I liked the friendly culture in the office and colleagues willing to help. Also, outings organized for interns by interns were very good.

We went through a lot of trainings which were very well structured and helpful. Work-life balance was without any problems. No one cared how much time you work the only thing is to get the job done.

Paid internships were offered for selected interns at the end of the unpaid internship.

    Cons

Internships are unpaid. On the other hand IBM is a strong one and attracts motivated crowd of students with various backgrounds.

    Recommends
    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I worked at IBM as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Employees generally take great pride in company. Many opportunities for career exploration (rotating to different positions is encouraged. Opportunities to work abroad. Expansive employee training opportunities. Co-workers generally willing to provide mentoring and help.

    Cons

Perhaps lack of office community (although this may be unique to my experience, I enjoyed working from home when possible but there are obvious drawbacks). Workflow can be frustrating, certainly ebbs and flows

Former Employee - Intern in London, England (UK)

I worked at IBM as an intern for more than a year

    Pros

Working for a top blue chip adds value to your CV.
    Globally diverse and integrated teams.
The experience around you varies enormously from interns to specialists that were there 30 years ago.
    Good social experiences.
    Very supportive of interns.
    Some very great supportive people.
    A lot of courses available.
Good training of interns, for skill development.
Also there are schemes to get women into technology. A lot of events for development and guest speakers.

    Cons

They do not offer a direct route to the grad scheme for their interns.
Some interns literally do nothing. However majority, and especially in my time, worked long hours, with no pay and it is expected of you.
Sometimes there is favouritism, by the development managers, and sometimes the work you do goes unnoticed if you are not highly connected with the development managers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fairer view of reviewing the interns.

Perhaps be less strict with applications and flexible.
Overall I would definitely work there again.
