I worked at ICF International as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

Good pay, benefits, people. There are many opportunities for continuing education, mobility in the company. Since it is such a large company there is a lot of stability. Many sectors of consulting work results in diversity which makes for a great workplace. I would highly recommend this company to a friend or colleague.

    Cons

I had to commute to downtown Sacramento- not really a con all things considered....I suppose that if I really had to choose the decorating was sparse in the office. Since this is the downside I would say that this is a great company. I only wrote this because I had to fill the space. No cons, seriously.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work. I was very happy with working there.

I worked at ICF International full-time

    Pros

40 hour work week, excellent compensation package, upward mobility, interesting work, open and transparent upper management

    Cons

The culture depends on the manager, and I left when I got a new one who was not qualified. He is still there, successfully managing up (darned Peter Principle). For higher level positions, the bonus structure is top down, not bottom up (every year my team got screwed).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to make more employees shareholders... overhaul the AIP system... it is currently an anti-incentive program.

I worked at ICF International as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

I was hired as an intern at the aviation branch for the summer. What they do is very interesting, and most people would enjoy working there. The staff there worked perfectly well as a team. Some of them fly around all the time, and whenever they are back, they greet everyone warmly. They love the job, and work hard. Filled with this positive energy, the office space become a welcoming place.

    Cons

Due to the nature of this aviation consulting business. A lot of the members of this branch are traveling most of the time. So it kinda feel like a little empty once in a while as a intern. But I think it will be great to work as a consultant there, for you get to visit interesting places around the world.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe some coffee time, or lunch time might keep the energy going.

I have been working at ICF International as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

The position allows the employee to think independently, and set own work schedule to suit availability. Coworkers (both supervisors and peers) are happy, upbeat, helpful and always just a call away. The dress is usually business casual. The company is eager for the employee to successfully show a professional image. Questions are quickly answered, supplies sent as soon as requested. The training for the position was intensive but held in a great tourist location. When there was time, there sites were within walking distance.

    Cons

It is a temporary position (which can be a pro).
Company email often had links that would not work since just contracted employee. During training the unusable links caused problems with onboarding.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The entire study was explained at the beginning of training, but a more specific outline of the position would be helpful.

I have been working at ICF International full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Strong and supportive corporate culture.

    Cons

If you are not interested in hard work and long hours (although you will be well compensated) this isn't a company for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at ICF International full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good work-life balance, culture promotes good quality work, reasonable workload and diversity of projects, flexible to family and student life

    Cons

Motivation of the staff varies greatly, few opportunities or incentives for junior staff to gain management or business development experience, mission and culture keeps staff more than compensation and benefits

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Overly reliant on specific contracts; culture and structure restricts flow of ideas, skills, and skews compensation based on talent and workload across service areas at all levels
