I worked at IGATE full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

There is nothing PRO about iGATE.

    Cons

The pay is bad (raises you have to fight for), you can take time-off WITHOUT PAY, no benefits, training consisted of 10 minutes by someone who then has NO time to answer/help with questions or anything else. You cannot move up at iGATE unless the person in charge "LIKES YOU". HR doesn't even exist, she is not even qualified (El Paso, TX location). The don't appreciate the good workers, but boy does the incapable or butt kissers move up

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    ==================================================

    Cons

    1. Bad Paymasters - Salary way too low as per industry standards
    2. Ambiguous HR policies.
    3. Too many redundant processes and overheads. Simple work takes eternity to get done due to bureaucracy

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Reduce bureaucracy
    2. Increase salary of employees and reduce outrageously high salaries of higher management.

    I worked at IGATE

    Pros

If you are fresher then there is lots of opportunity to learn because you can work 10 to 12 hours daily. Also there are online , class room based training programmes available yo help mostly freshers. Only work and no play.

    Cons

Here self declared genius management think that 3 freshers are more intelligent than a 7+ years lead and senior software engineer( 2+ years) can replace the lead.if you are joining as a lead then better start looking for other options. It's totally depends on your luck, if you are lucky then you will get good projects. If you are knowledgeable and ready to be managers puppet then there may be some hope for you. Even on notice period they would try to force you to work on weekends. Don't expect credit for your hard work. As per growth it's very less compared to market.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No advice because they are the main issue.

Worst practitioners in the tech industry

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    I worked at IGATE

    Pros

In the US they have a very nicely priced healthcare plan

    Cons

They are contractors but they do not look after the best interest of the company that contracted them. What they look after is how to increase their revenue and will sacrifice work efficiency at the expense of the client. The so-called professionals that they field from outside of the US are sub par at best. Quality of work is consistently sub standard. Offshore resources are mostly new graduates and are learning on the job at the expense of the client. As a professional for many years, it was an embarassment to be associated with this company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Review your projects much more closely. Do not simply rely on the paperwork that you are given. Conduct impromptu on-site audits.

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Pensacola, FL
Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Pensacola, FL

I worked at IGATE full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

They offer(ed) job opportunities to local residents with little, to no insurance experience.
It's conveniently located toward downtown, Pensacola.

    Cons

Poor Senior Management, as well as poor departmental consistency. Lack of communication within and between departments. No team cohesiveness. No consistent core values are practiced. Payroll is often incorrect. Favoritism is extremely apparent, which may impede advancement opportunities. No career growth opportunities. HR picks and chooses how to enforce company policies and picks and chooses the concerns to address. No job security. They do not mind discarding long term, loyal employees and continue to employ some uncaring, unmotivated, individuals who do not care about their employers' success.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you talk the talk, walk the walk. Attempt consistency regarding corporate policies and procedures among all departments, not only picking and choosing individuals or groups to enforce rules upon. Be seen more, communicate, not dictate to employees and understand each employee's value and commitment to the organization. Quit gossiping about other employees among each other and stop having, long, unnecessary & unproductive meetings.

I worked at IGATE full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good medical benefits. No other pros.

    Cons

Employees are not treated well. HR has no voice and never makes an attempt to listen to the employees. Managers are too snob and don't treat the employees equally. There is no one with whom you could share your concerns so nothing gets resolved.

Work environment is totally unprofessional and very stressful. IT department and Payroll process is very slow and inexperienced.

    Pros

It's a job with health insurance

    Cons

1% raises when cost of living is 1.7%, promotions nonexistent, constant payroll errors, they onshore from India at every opportunity, and pay Indian employees in the U.S. more than American workers.
