I have been working at IGATE full-time

    Pros

Good exposure to the different technologies beginning in the career

    Cons

No long term assignments and technology stack changes quiet frequently as it is a service based.

    Advice to Management

Need to take more ownership of the programs than completely working as a contracting agency.

I have been working at IGATE full-time

    Pros

Salary is fair. Base is OK. Bonus structure is transparent and can be 100% payout or more.

    Cons

Massive restructure took place before acquisition by CapGemini. The consulting practice was dissolved. Employees were asked to relocate to igate offices and randomly reassigned without regard for family ties. New campus hires were asked to resign right at the beginning of their careers without any benefits or payoffs in India and the USA. All as a result of improper planning by the CEO Ashok Vemuri who had previously given a go ahead for massive hiring. Really shameful

    Advice to Management

There is a need to listen to the voice of the people. Too much caucus at the top.

I have been working at IGATE full-time

    Pros

Broad responsibilities, global reach, excellent client list, financially strong, 99 percentile rich medical benefits, and interesting work. The pending acquisition with Capgemini could solve many of the cons I list below.

    Cons

Far too centralized and rigid with a "one size fits all" approach to policies, pay practices, employment practices, and overall decision making. It is especially frustrating trying to advance the BPO/TPA businesses in North America with the limitations imposed by the "global" policies and practices that are designed for the mainstream business which is IT on a global scale. Examples of extremely bad policies that make doing business in North America difficult include - promotion policy, Internal Job Posting policy, Travel policy, Relocation policy, and many of the pay practices. They promote this great "IGATE University", yet only provide in person training for India based employees.

    Advice to Management

When making decisions along with Capgemini for post integration work environment, please lean towards a regional approach that will allow decision making by those operating in that region. This highly bureaucratic, centralized approach will continue to inhibit success and growth outside of India.

I have been working at IGATE full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

You own your own growth, onsite opportunities.

    Cons

Laid back culture, employee rotation policy is very bad. If you're tagged with one account (client) they won't let you change the account. A semi IT culture!!!

    Advice to Management

Pls consider sharing organization profit with employees as well.

I have been working at IGATE full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Relatively easy to get an offer, since they are basically stuffing agency / contract house, although they don't call themselves this. Not much pressure, you will get plentiful personal time.

    Cons

Don't expect too much on benefits. No annual bonus, no 401K match, pitiful increase on salary each year. Don't expect too much on career development, they are running just like contract house. What do you expect from contract house? Please note, the HR system of the company really sucks. Be cautious if you need working visa in U.S. They have the ability to screw up you. Make sure to ask about H1 visa and green card policy before you sign the offer.

    Advice to Management

I would recommend that they setup totally separated HR system and policies for north american projects. They are running the U.S branch with philosophies running in India
