    Pros

Good place to learn new technologies and have a overall professional development experience.. Good work practicies that match the market standards..

    Cons

Employee satisfaction is limited in terms of new career options for internal postings. Employee cross educational features and programs are none to be seen for candidates with multi-technological aspirations. Management is too focused on delivery point of view instead of ofucssing on root level processes.

I have been working at IGATE full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Fun Place to work. Some BU's have excellent managers while others have mean people full of BS. Depends on where u land.

    Cons

CEO Ashok Vemuri said in one of the interviews that he wants to build a company that can last for 100 years. That's it.
But no real efforts were put in place to standardize the appraisal process, pay attention to banding gaps, retention policy not changed ( though IGATE recently got award for innovative retention policies). There are some offices e.g. Chennai IGATE where promotions are given without checking the capability and in Mumbai/Pune offices even capable resources have to struggle for it and ultimately they get frustrated and leave. The same incompetent resources from Chennai then become project managers/program managers/ associate directors and then start screwing up projects/programs and clients relationships.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just taking over Patni is not enough, you have to bridge the gaps - in thinking, appraisal process, remove bias. Try to retain senior people as they are the key link between customers. HR policy needs to be changed as they agree to pay more to laterals instead of tried and tested internal resources.

Former Employee - Translation-Senior Team Lead in El Paso, TX

I worked at IGATE full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Very good benefits package, good salary rate, kept their promises.

    Cons

No real interaction, too many people doing one thing, never made me feel part of it, disorganized. I was left stranded in El Paso because their project was cut off and never offered me a new location, even when they are an international company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more attention to new projects, new hires and the possibility of actually caring about them.

If you are on H1 Visa and want to join iGate for a permanent position in the US, please DO NOT do it. Once your project (for which you were recruited) is over, you will be dumped.
