I have been working at ITT Corp

Pros – Very flat organization, very little meddling of management on day to day jobs. It was real pleasure to work there. Not at all a political place to work.

Cons – Practically no R&D. All efforts are towards one direction-military, defense products - high profitability

Advice to Senior Management – Spend and Spread development dollars on various segment of the market-defense/aerrospace, commercial programs and non defese projects evenly.

Pros – good people, great location, with stability and reliabilty and regret that I am no longer a part of there operation.

Cons – moved to New Jersey when I was living in Staten Island so I had not choice.

Cons – A larger facility to work in.

Advice to Senior Management – Keep up the good work.

Pros – The work environment is generally fair and friendly. Employees are treated humanely and are given the benifit of the doubt. There are plenty of opportunities for growth, however, you must ask for it and show your enthusiasm for it.

Cons – Parking has become a real problem. If you go out for lunch, don't expect to find a parking at ITT.

Advice to Senior Management – Some Senior Managers tend to not care about how they talk to employees. They just want things done, without too much regard to issues arising. Sending other employees to boss a hard working employee around is the worst possible way to lose the one good employee...even in a tough economy.

So be respectful.

Pros – I have been working in ITT for less than 2 years. I am enjoying the experience of dealing with people from different backgrounds. I respect that ethical behavior is a priority in the company. It’s great that the management believes that new ideas and initiatives are essential to the growth and development of the business. The way my manager coaches me is great. My colleagues are very helpful. Looking forward to a bright future here.

Cons – Nothing to be mentioned for the time being.

Flexible schedule
Great HR department
Educational benefits
Very Military friendly
Reimbursement for travel

Cons – Overseas pay is a bit low compared to other companies
Educational reimbursement is small

Advice to Senior Management – Listen to your subordinates. Don't just talk to the managers- take evaluations from the subordinates to gauge your managers' abilities. Employees like to know they are listened to.

Pros – The everyday stuff is very relaxed. You have the right amount of freedom in your tasks. Co workers are very friendly.

Cons – Technically the engineering staff might be a bit behind. Some of their engineers have been doing the same things like doing maintenance on an existing program or product for 20 years.

Advice to Senior Management – While legacy programs are good moneymakers, try to have new work come in more consistently. Expect your engineers to learn while doing. Just training someone doesn't mean they learn.
