I have been working at ITT Technical Institute full-time for more than a year

    Pros

None, this was a really bad experience.

    Cons

All this company cares about is getting bodies in the door to collect title IV funds. They prey on low-income individuals and veterans. They push their Financial Aid Admins to reach "packaging goals" and recruitment pushes the FA's to "seal the deal" with students who are concerned about cost. It sickens me to have ever been part of this company.

I have been working at ITT Technical Institute for less than a year

    Pros

Pay is okay, and you form a bond with your co-workers because they share your disgust about the place!

    Cons

Okay, where do I start? They preach student success, but it really boils down to money! We are taught how to legally rip people off. We will accept the homeless, the sex offender, the mentally-challenged, and any other character to make profit! I do believe that people should get a new start, but I believe ITT is taking advantage of disadvantaged people!! ITT Tech does not care about their employees, or the students. The tier system is set up to weed out the people who may have had a bad week. A bad week equals sickness, pregnancy, vacation, marriage, no shows, and etc. Some things you have no control over, so you are brutally punished for it. ITT Tech is strictly about the money, and as an employee you are not human. You are micromanaged and manipulated constantly. YOU ARE A NUMBER, AND YOU WILL GET FIRED IF YOUR NUMBERS DON'T ADD UP! Representatives go in and out like revolving doors. Career services is a complete joke! Okay, I am forming a book here! I am done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Headquarters should value people and by valuing people the numbers will take care of themselves! Stop being greedy and stand by STUDENT SUCCESS! You have actually caused pain and some tears.

Micro-managed mess that doesn't understand how to treat its employees.

I have been working at ITT Technical Institute full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

My co-workers are the only real pros to this job. They are talented and good
recruiting/ sales people. However, they are severely underutilized.

    Cons

The extreme miro-managing, no room for new ideas or innovation, no trust in employees abilities, old and outdated recruiting model that relies on borderline harassing people with numerous daily phone calls, zero relationship with the community or outside prospecting for leads. Anyone that understands recruiting knows that this is key. Enrollment is down due to no recruiting relationship with local communities. They sometime have one person that's a "community relations specialists" that's supposed to cover a huge area and isn't a recruiter. This is done while all the qualified recruiting staff sits around hoping leads come in. What a mess.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change your recruiting model!!! Hello? What your doing isn't working. Breaking down the area and assign a manageable area to a recruiter. Build relationships through the recruiter and good things will happen. Recruiting isn't about numbers is about relationships. Relationships will get you numbers. You currently have it backwards. Stop with the obsessive daily reporting. Get off people backs so they can just do their job.

I have been working at ITT Technical Institute full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The coworkers are great, makes it better. However, company culture is terrible! There is none. There is more cons here than anything.

    Cons

1.) leads - Maybe 5 a day if your lucky. But normally 1 or 2 a day. Your expected to force people that are really looking for jobs to come to this "school". Example of lead flow: the vast majority made a mistake online but really looking for work. A quarter of them is a disconnect number . Your expected to make 100 calls daily; and call each lead 3 times a day, they call this a best practice. That is borderline harassment. The call tracking system does not account for all calls made. Only at best 70% of your daily are accounted. Is this done to force you to play their games with them and look like you havn't called anyone.
2.) work schedule - work 12-9pm twice weekly, 10-7 twice weekly. Every Saturday!!! No holidays off besides Christmas and thanksgiving. Your told to work a holidays no questions asked. Yes, that means Labor Day, Memorial Day, and so on.
3.) benefits- health insurance cost more than a car payment on a monthly basis. That covers a family of four in good health and relatively young.
That does not include co-pays and doctors visit that's out of pocket. 401k matching is terrible. 50% matching but fully vested after 3 years; I have no seen anyone last more than one year only department. They force you into their 401k after 90 days. You'll get a surprised reduction from your paycheck without your consent. Total waste of money.
4.) environment - micromanaged. No culture. No fun. Bad managers that don't care about you but there numbers.
5.) technology- stupid system that is a CRM system; it's so slow, non responsive, and reduces effectiveness. To put in notes you have to go through three steps and the load time will make your head spin. They still use internet explorers which is really slow. Computers in the interview rooms are slow; server is so slow. System goes down often. Computers don't work during interviews with students. Printers don't work or function randomly.
And we are a technology school?
There is more but you get the point.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The greed took the best of them. Too many uncertainties with their books; Feds want you to stay in business but you keep on messing up.

    Pros

Got some work experience that helped me get another job, but that's it. This place is terrible.

    Cons

Everything. Unintelligent students who sexually harass you, along with a supervisor who accuses you of having fleas and making him itch. I wish this were a lie.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire that terrible employee who harassed me.

I worked at ITT Technical Institute full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Not much weekend work. I liked some of my coworkers

    Cons

What you are selling is a ripoff. You are supposed to be helping these students rather than saddle them with tens of thousands of dollars of debt and a degree that is not worth the paper it is printed on. Management will micromanage you every minute to bring in more "starts". Miss your goal a couple of times and you are out the door. If you give notice, they will kick you out right away and watch you as you pack your desk (that was my case after 2 years). Salary is a disgrace, benefits are terrible, job is even worse. Twice I have run into former students I recruited out in public and both times I apologized for doing so. One is a waiter, the other one works at JC Penny.

I have been working at ITT Technical Institute full-time for less than a year

    Pros

the only pros are my co-workers and my students. I love them all dearly.

    Cons

the micro management, my horrible manager, the numbers game, you are not invited to any managers meeting even though the success of the school is based around what the reps do, they don't care about the students, the are no career advancement opportunities, don't ever try to ask any questions because you'll get the run around and end up with some stupid corporate answer, everyone at the campus hates their job, the school is so over priced its disgusting and these students will never find jobs, I go home every night feeling like I am doing people a disservice, the SCHEDULE!! I work 3 out of 4 Saturdays a month, till 9 pm 2 nights a week, and getting vacation is like pulling teeth. I could go on all day about the cons of ITT Tech. Whatever you do, no matter how desperate you are, DO NOT WORK FOR ITT TECH...hoping a new opportunity comes around ASAP

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

you're employees are extremely intelligent people...treat them as such. Also, don't sit at your desk all day and runs reports, send OBNOXIOUS emails and have meetings about things that never get done. get in there and help when things are tough and quit breathing down our necks. Also, this management is very catty and immature...there is no way this school will be successful with this current management.

I worked at ITT Technical Institute full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Coworkers, Pay, & we had a decent holiday party every December

    Cons

Micromanaged, unrealistic goals, terrible schedule - plan on working every weekend, laughable HR Dept., & absolutely no constructive feedback.

I almost made it five years, the last two I was completely burned out. If you can make this a short term thing, go for it. Don't look for career advancements, this isn't the company you'll want to retire from.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No advice. In house management knows the problems, but HQ won't listen. ESI HQ is what's wrong with America today. Despicable!

I worked at ITT Technical Institute part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Pay was decent. Not great for what they expect you to do, just decent.

    Cons

Too many to list here. The whole business has been built from getting students to take out Federal and private loans. The education is substandard and the company has been under investigation from at leas 15 state Attorneys General, the SEC, the DOE, the CFPB and has hundreds of lawsuits in progress from students and former employees. Don't do it if you value ethics or integrity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop ripping off students and employees
