Run like a German paternalistic company

I worked at Infineon Technologies full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Well defined processes and tasks. You knew what was required of you. The company is well funded and conservatively managed which was beneficial during the 2008 downturn.

    Cons

Very rigid and bureaucratic. Easy to get your job accomplished if it was part of the process but if creativity or new approach was required, forget about it. You are the nail to be hammered down.

I worked at Infineon Technologies full-time

    Pros

Great colleagues, nice work environment, good benefits, high energy, challenging work, opportunity for advancement depends on your department and mobility, development of cutting edge products, senior management keeps a focus on how to make it a better place to work.

    Cons

Decisions can take a long time, processes can be over complicated, heavy work loads, resources can be a challenge, communication is a plus or minus depending on where you sit in the organization (though there is a continuous focus for improvement on this area).

    I worked at Infineon Technologies

    Pros

Good technology, good market in Germany, engineers given a lot of respect, reasonable salary, very nice facility, marketing team was good

    Cons

It was the year of a bad economy, a lot of cutbacks and departments closures. The location was a small part of the company and hence not considered very important

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Expand this location since space is available (lot of empty cubicles), focus increasing revenues, margins will be made up during a good economy

    Current Employee - Applications Engineer

I have been working at Infineon Technologies

    Pros

Still a good place to work, respectful management, not bad navigation through tough economy. Knowledgeable staff, good chance to educate yourself working with industry leading experts. Company is an industry leader in some application areas. Restructuring helped company to remain an industry leader, stay on the cutting edge of technology.
Still good benefits in tough economy times. Flexible time off,

    Cons

After cutting costs people got assigned to multiple projects, too much paperwork, sometimes that paperwork takes more time and looks more important than actual work. People getting nervous, some are leaving the company (usually the best experts). Chances to get training reduced with budget cuts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reduce the number of middle level managers, amount of paperwork and reporting, regular internal meetings and conference calls. Be pragmatic!

All in pay contract is flexible.
    Many health programs for employees.
    Complete documents and databases.
Various on site trainings and on line trainings.

    Cons

    No stocks issue to employees.
Not good place for employees who smoke.
    Bonus system is too rigid.
It is not easy to have chances to be promoted.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please consider to construct a system for employees to buy Infineon stocks easily and with some discount in order to inspire all the employees.

I have been working at Infineon Technologies

    Pros

Very nice company to grow at and get started. Of course many things can be achieved depending on performance but also luck (unfortunatelly). Plus: training, work-life balance, time-off policies.

    Cons

Being a pretty big company the management and bureaucracy can be overwhelming at times (here some patience is very usefull).
