    Pros

Good technology, skilled and innovative engineers, good work life balance, flexible environment, friendly and techincally sound manager. You learn a lot, there cannot be single day when you dont learn new stuff....

    Cons

Pay and benefits are not upto the mark, they need to do a survey about the cost of living in the area. The yearly apartment rent increases more than the annual raise they provide.. You can manage for couple of years considering other good stuffs, but in the long run if you need to run your family you have to think of other alternatives. There are one or two unprofessional guys with whom you have to deal with, mostly responsible for managing labs and support...If you are soft spoken and not a noisy employee, you are being taken for a ride, have to face obnoixious behavior and the management does not stand behind you, acts neutral. The immediate manager is good, friendly, does zero micro management and also technically very sound, but when it comes to work distribution, couple of selected guys are favored little more than the rest even though you had proved in the past you are good enough. Its not a major issue, but sometimes make you feel bad...

    Advice to Management

Help employees to achieve their career goals..Give equal chance to everyone..

    Pros

Very good company and smart people to work with. Very good compensation. Benefits are very good Opportunity to learn new technologies

    Cons

Higher management is not motivated specially in services. The management has been there for more than ~13 years and made lot of money during the IPO and they do not seem motivated. They never respond to emails. All they talk is about BBQ competitions.

    Advice to Management

Need more motivated people in higher management specially in services industry and consultants in services need more insight on whats happening within the products. Partners have more information on the new releases and products than IPS consultants.

    Pros

Great products and even better people Company vision is clear and demonstrative High demand solutions that have and will weather many economic cycles

    Cons

Sr. Leadership changes have created a more fearful environment Good people have left voluntarily at an alarming rate

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to turnover. Informatica is a fantastic company, but can't remain so unless those that got it there remain engaged and committed.

    Pros

Huge potential for Informatica in the years to come. They have technology that most companies are just learning that they need to remain competitive in their respective industries. Compensation target is appealing.

    Cons

Sales teams not aligned effectively. Compensation target not very realistic as the current compensation plan has many flaws

    Advice to Management

For Informatica to get to the next level, they must align their sales people appropriately so that they are all pulling in the same direction. They must set up the sales folks in a way for the inside and field together work more as one team, not as separate (sometimes conflicting) units.

    Pros

The job offers very flexible hours and a great deal of freedom. Management trusts you to work when and where you want as long as you finish your work. There is a lot to learn.

    Cons

New employees are given very little guidance or feedback. The breadth of material to learn can be overwhelming. The development process has not matured.

    Advice to Management

Product managers seem constantly overworked. The company could benefit from another layer of management and better scheduling. The development process needs to be examined.

    Pros

    * Stable senior management team * Logical acquisition strategy and strong financial position to continue making acquisitions * Flexibility in where and when work is performed * Generous compensation package and bonuses

    Cons

    * Unfocused marketing strategy and outdated marketing organization structure * Lack of innovation, creativity, risk-taking, follow-through in marketing * Cramped and inconvenient located office space * Few or no opportunities for career advancement

    Advice to Management

Leadership means identifying a clear goal, putting the organizational structure in place to achieve that goal, staffing that organization with confident and competent people, and executing on that goal, task by task. Don't solicit ideas for improvement and then "go dark." Follow through on your commitments to your team. There's a lot of untapped talent in your organization. Clear the dead wood, and you'll find it.
