    Pros

I'm a part time worker and they work around your schedule especially if you have school

    Cons

You don't receive as many day as you would like and the pay isn't great, you get a 25 cent raise every YEAR you work there. So it take a year to just make 7.50 and hour...

I have been working at Ingles Markets full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

This is a retail job with retail hours regardless of what shift or position you work. Ingles offers a stable workplace to learn basic skills or begin a new career. Ingles has a 401k that offers to match 50%. They have worked with me on my scheduling and if I need a weekend off they allow you to switch days with others to make it happen. I read a lot negative reviews about this company...Ingles has a whole is a great company however each location will be ran and operated differently...it.s up to you the employee to make it a good experience.

    Cons

As I mentioned each location is different. Where I'm at the store management needs a reality check. Other than that...no complaints.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's OK and good practice to be a part of your employees personal life. Get to know them...what makes them who they are...they're needs...they're aspirations. Management needs to tend to employees like crops in a garden...The more tending...weeding the better the overall outcome.

I have been working at Ingles Markets

    Pros

Good environment the company I feel usually treats people fairly.

    Cons

It is still a supermarket with work schedules that include nights and weekends.

I have been working at Ingles Markets part-time

    Pros

Good introduction to customer service and great coworkers. They are flexible with your schedule and provide good hours. Environment is relaxed and friendly.

    Cons

Low starting base pay and small raises. Few opportunities for advancement. Store equipment is generally outdated. Working with the public means you will deal with some rude and mean customers.

I worked at Ingles Markets part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Enjoyed the people I worked with. I was able to be promoted fairly quickly at a young age which gave me great experience.

    Cons

The hours I worked while being a student were hard, I worked full-time hours with part time benefits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some of the managers want to be more like friends to the young employees than supervisors, this is never a good thing.

It's a friendly place to work.

I have been working at Ingles Markets part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

They care about employees, you get decent hours, generally all the customers and co-workers are friendly, and customer service is helpful.

    Cons

A lot of high schoolers and the schedule is posted one day before the upcoming week, which makes scheduling difficult. At Starbucks, some customers get frustrated.

I worked at Ingles Markets part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great co-workers, and opportunity for advancement when it arises... If you show initiative. 20% of the customers have been coming there their entire lives are a very sweet.

    Cons

Underpaid as a bookkeeper. They hire too many people and cut hours without notice. 50% of the customers are the scum that lives next to the building have no respect for themselves or others and can become unbearable "serving" them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I'm surprised I even got a job here, they really only hire people they know... and they can be cliquey. Otherwise, they are understanding people who do care about the store and are genuinely nice.

I have been working at Ingles Markets full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

With health insurance not factored in, it does have competitive entry level retail full time benefits.

    Cons

Having said the previous, I have noticed a steep decline in upper managements care for associate morale.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Realize that it is your hourly workers who maintain customer outlook. These are positions filled with people who deserve more than a yearly $.25/hr raise and a taxed store gift card at Christmas. I am not suggesting major displays of affection. Simple gestures, an example would be, I worked for a different company who's manager would once a quarter come in and grill hamburgers, hot dogs, etc for all employees. Also, an orientation and training period for all new employees would be beneficial. Having started with this company as a cashier, I have noticed that even front service clerks need training.
