    Good stable work

Night Stock (Current Employee) Athens, TN

ProsThis is a retail job with retail hours regardless of what shift or position you work. Ingles offers a stable workplace to learn basic skills or begin a new career. Ingles has a 401k that offers to match 50%. They have worked with me on my scheduling and if I need a weekend off they allow you to switch days with others to make it happen. I read a lot negative reviews about this company...Ingles has a whole is a great company however each location will be ran and operated differently...it.s up to you the employee to make it a good experience.

ConsAs I mentioned each location is different. Where I'm at the store management needs a reality check. Other than that...no complaints.

Advice to Senior ManagementIt's OK and good practice to be a part of your employees personal life. Get to know them...what makes them who they are...they're needs...they're aspirations. Management needs to tend to employees like crops in a garden...The more tending...weeding the better the overall outcome.

    – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Overall Good Company

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGood environment the company I feel usually treats people fairly.

ConsIt is still a supermarket with work schedules that include nights and weekends.

Good Job while working through school.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGood introduction to customer service and great coworkers. They are flexible with your schedule and provide good hours. Environment is relaxed and friendly.

ConsLow starting base pay and small raises. Few opportunities for advancement. Store equipment is generally outdated. Working with the public means you will deal with some rude and mean customers.

    Great learning experience

    Customer Service Manager (Former Employee)

ProsEnjoyed the people I worked with. I was able to be promoted fairly quickly at a young age which gave me great experience.

ConsThe hours I worked while being a student were hard, I worked full-time hours with part time benefits.

Advice to Senior ManagementSome of the managers want to be more like friends to the young employees than supervisors, this is never a good thing.

It's a friendly place to work.

Starbucks Barista (Current Employee) Brevard, NC

ProsThey care about employees, you get decent hours, generally all the customers and co-workers are friendly, and customer service is helpful.

ConsA lot of high schoolers and the schedule is posted one day before the upcoming week, which makes scheduling difficult. At Starbucks, some customers get frustrated.

Good for high school but needed to move on

Cashier/Bookkeeper (Former Employee) Lenoir City, TN

ProsGreat co-workers, and opportunity for advancement when it arises... If you show initiative. 20% of the customers have been coming there their entire lives are a very sweet.

ConsUnderpaid as a bookkeeper. They hire too many people and cut hours without notice. 50% of the customers are the scum that lives next to the building have no respect for themselves or others and can become unbearable "serving" them.

Advice to Senior ManagementI'm surprised I even got a job here, they really only hire people they know... and they can be cliquey. Otherwise, they are understanding people who do care about the store and are genuinely nice.

    Hey, it's retail.

    Stocker (Current Employee)

ProsWith health insurance not factored in, it does have competitive entry level retail full time benefits.

ConsHaving said the previous, I have noticed a steep decline in upper managements care for associate morale.

Advice to Senior ManagementRealize that it is your hourly workers who maintain customer outlook. These are positions filled with people who deserve more than a yearly $.25/hr raise and a taxed store gift card at Christmas. I am not suggesting major displays of affection. Simple gestures, an example would be, I worked for a different company who's manager would once a quarter come in and grill hamburgers, hot dogs, etc for all employees. Also, an orientation and training period for all new employees would be beneficial. Having started with this company as a cashier, I have noticed that even front service clerks need training.

    Good and bad

Deli Clerk (Former Employee) Sweetwater, TN

ProsDecent hours at times, can vary depending on overall business. Decent pay for retail, definitely better than fast food. Possible to become full time without necessarily having to move into a management position unlike fast food or other retail chains.

ConsLack of a core training program for new employees. No drug testing of employees prior to beginning of employment. High turnover, even among top store level management. Department head, full time assistant, and store Co-Manager all fired within a three month period before or just after Christmas 2011, not the easiest thing to deal with, especially at the busiest time of the year for retail, and not a good morale image for part-time and non management employees seeing your supervisors get fired repeatedly.

    Great management, poor location

Self-Checkout Coordinator (Former Employee) Greensboro, GA

ProsThe managers are awesome. If you show them loyalty, they will bend over backwards to help you. I was in the Greensboro, GA location, and during my time there, I only worked under 2 bad managers. The rest were absolutely fantastic.

ConsGreene County. I love where I was born and raised, but the work ethic of the people in this county is seriously lackluster. In my 7 years at this job, I saw around 100 people come and go, and 90% of them had horrible work ethic. The other 10% went to a job with better employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementTry harder to search for better employees! Other than that I loved you guys!
