I have been working at Insight full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Good first step into networking, many clients, lots of great areas to begin a foundation in a networking environment. - Compensates for IT certification (CCENT, CCNA, etc...)

    Cons

Unfortunately there are really to many I care to list. but I will give a short list of the big ones. - Upper management is unfamiliar with running and maintaining normal operations expected in a Service environment. - Sales attitudes towards services offering. sales teams answers yes to everything the client wants to gain the contract without considering if the resources and capabilities are available to meet those request. - Many Operations managers have no idea how to do the job they are directing. - Poor procedural documentation that is scattered and near impossible to follow the "correct" path - contacts that are expected to be on-call are frustrated when they are needed. NOC support is the lowest it can possible be. likely due to the lack of pay and benefits. - Pay and Benefits are the lowest in the industry. They use "entry level" and hire in experienced technicians to perform the job in order to maintain such a low pay scale. - Career paths are non existent, with very little opportunity to advance - One of the most unprofessional environments to work in. harassment, equal opportunity, and management / employee respect are extremely low - Extremely overworked, and jokingly underpaid.

    Advice to Management

    - Take note of the competitive companies that are flipping clients - Be HONEST, and TRANSPARENT with clients upon signing contracts. Business ethics 101 - Cut upper management bonuses (Yes we know about them) and pay your overworked and underpaid employees. turnover rate will decrease, moral will increase, clients will stay, and profit will increase.

I have been working at Insight full-time

    Pros

Nice clean comfortable environment. I have a good manager that has our backs. Extensive training on products and services. Partners are available on-site to help with products and pricing.

    Cons

The comp plan is terrible, they make it very difficult to make any measurable commission.

    Advice to Management

Raise the bar on who you hire for your sales force and pay them!

    Cons

Work overload, not fairly compensated, training, poor management, sub par benefits

Make new employees feel welcome and part of the team...work on listening to their employees on issues to better improve processes.

I have been working at Insight full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great teammates! Good base pay. Pretty nice vacation days as well as a few "floating holidays" you can use at any point. Very large corporation with a great amount of resources.

    Cons

Constant change in management greatly hinders ability to find and keep momentum. Medical insurance could be significantly better. Austin office seems to be second thought pretty often.

    Advice to Management

Stick with a plan/employee long enough to see if it will work. Quit resetting the structure.

I have been working at Insight full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Teammates were great! Always willing to help each other out even at the last minute.

    Cons

Management is only there for themselves. Middle management only cares about meeting their numbers to get their own bonus.

    Advice to Management

The round of layoffs could have been avoided if management would have spent more time on getting new clients in the door and not blaming engineers for clients leaving RNOC.

I have been working at Insight full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Most peers are really great people

    Cons

Clients have never heard of Insight. Management doesn't know how to manage, communicate, collaborate, help get things done, push the ball forward, think outside the box. The services we are chartered to sell are non-existent or are so rudimentary as to not set us apart. Trying to get things done within the company is nearly impossible. Lots of "No" people in high level positions. This company has no culture.

    Advice to Management

Low pay, terrible vacation, disjointed sales messages, sales is told what to focus on which unfortunately is not in our wheel house - management needs to really focus on what the strengths of the company are and develop solutions around the strengths. Asset tagging and multi-site rollouts are not a leading edge service. Why is it so hard to get anything done?

I have been working at Insight as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Choose own Hours and work pace

    Cons

Pay is poor even as a contractor. expect same work or more as regular employees, yet NO benefitse, vacation or time off. Do not get pd. for holidays that are required to take off.

    Advice to Management

DO NOT hire initially as contractor and expect people to work almost a year before hiring full time.

I have been working at Insight full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people I work with are nice.

    Cons

lots of manual processes, IT can't get the main order entry system supported by the infrastructure it needs...appears to be a lack of expertise around the tool itself (SAP).

    Advice to Management

Pick a direction and stick with it for more than a couple months. Clarify who you are to the marketplace.
