    Insight is getting better

    Marketing Manager (Current Employee)
    Tempe, AZ

ProsAt HQ in Tempe, most of the teammates are very helpful. There are many fun activities.
New PM and Marketing Management are upgrading tools so people can be more efficient.
In those departments starting to provide more training and more career opportunities.
Management open about goals and direction.

ConsPay scale is low and health benefits are not good.
No on-going sales training and no accountability in sales.

Advice to Senior ManagementDevelop consistent goals across organization. Each partner has goals with no tie to sales expectations.
In PM, encourage cooperation instead of competition between teams.
Continue to provide career training and opportunities.

If you don't like the current team alignment just wait it WILL change, soon

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGreat teammates and solid middle management, where those on the front lines truly act as professionals and there is a strong desire to win as a team.

ConsPractice development is fractured and confrontational to frontline teammates with some animosity between those that do and those that sell. While change is inevitable it sometimes seems that change here is done just to make a change.

    Go with Flow embrace change

    Senior Account Executive (Current Employee)
    Phoenix, AZ

ProsSolid baseline you can make a lot of money in sales but have to be willing to embrace change, you have to be willing to invest time to cross learn what services we do well and pull them into your approach t your client.
Dont expect to have stuff handed to you you have to be the leader in your client relationship and to go to the right person in the organization to get the job done.

You have to MAKE the work/life balance, You make the $$$ you want to make,

ConsCons are in related to the pros, knowing whihc person to engage in tribal knowledge to get job done for client and insight.

Advice to Senior Managementrealign the floor managers, Our sales manager are just number pushers they do not add to the sales temas for the most part. Reps do not need a floor manager to go on site with them when the floor manager doesnt even understand what the client does.
Remove the roadblocks to the teams, we are one company. insight did not survive the .com bublle Y2K and the crash in 07/08 withut the employees standing fast with the company. we grew this together.
    Make remote systems better.

Customer service oriented where support takes priority over development but lots of opportunity for both

    Senior Systems Engineer (Current Employee)
    Tempe, AZ

ProsA lot of positive energy that stems from the majority of the employees working in technical sales. Managed services is still in its infancy of product offerings but is a growing profit center for the company which means the spotlight is on us and how well we can deliver data center support to Insight and it's customers we support. Working on systems owned by multiple companies is challenging and you are always meeting new people. I am satisfied with my salary for the level of work performed.

ConsPriorities get shifted, new clients have different standards or are lacking standards, and same goes for processes such as change management, root system access, and level of vendor support for the OS. Sometimes it seems chaotic and it is frustrating when support work gets in the way of project commitments, so requires being flexible and putting the customer's interests ahead of your own.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep up the meetings so we feel involved and have a voice for improving our future. Don't forget to invest in training and retaining the talent required for future sales of the latest infrastructure technologies.

    Good Organization

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsPlenty of opportunity. Large projects. There are many locations to work at. The benefits are decent and seem to comparable to most average places.

ConsToo many different directions. Salary is below average. Employer matching is very low (1%). Many projects tend to require extra work after hours

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest in more career development.

    Field Sales Representative

    Sales (Former Employee)
    New York, NY

ProsGreat benefits, excellent compensation plan, superb infrastructure. Terrific perks and good management. Definitely a place where you would want to work.

ConsResistant to change even if change is in their best interest. They are a VAR and VAR they will stay ... at the mercy of their vendors. They "say" they do services but it is limited to break/fix. Missing the boat on powerful revenue generating practice.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed to embrace services as part of their growth strategy. Because Insight is so tied to their vendors, Insight is at their mercy. Management should consider branching out in terms of service offerings so they have better margins and better control over their destiny.

Outstanding management team and headed in the right direction

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsExecutive Management / Leadership has the company headed in the right direction.
Investment in Services business and people is a major plus.
New focus based on specific sales segments and verticals is setting the company up for success.

Consbenefits package and 401K match is just OK.
Difficult at times to overcome legacy box-selling approach.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to invest in the Services and Solution selling capabilities.

    Positioned to succeed

    Manager (Current Employee)
    Bloomingdale, IL

ProsGetting rid of dead weight. Floodgates opening with vendors and long term clients.

ConsMore fat has to be trimmed. There are still many folks performing at mediocre levels.

Advice to Senior ManagementStay the course. Keep thinking long term.

    Value in this VAR

    Account Executive (Current Employee)
    Tempe, AZ

ProsCut your teeth. Build a solid knowledge base. Practical experiences.

ConsWorst compensation package in the industry.

Advice to Senior ManagementDoes excessive dialing everyday nonstop translate into quality research/relationship building. No it does not. Let me leverage a personal relationship to make a sale. Trapped literally in the strangest 125 TAM accounts. Growth; stagnant. Nice.
