I worked at Insight full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    Wonderful people (non management)
compensation plan was ok got worse over the years
    Very good tech team

    Cons

    micro management
    lack of training
    HR policies are very questionable
    Core values are not followed

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company seriously needs to look after their employees, after 10 years at Insight i was dismissed because they found a loop hole in the HR policies. If a manager doesnt like you then they will find anything to pin on you to get you out of the business. Quote from a director "if we want someone out we will get them out" clearly worked in my case. I think the SLT need to look a little deeper into the business and realise the reps are the ones keeping the business afloat.

I have been working at Insight full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Training around sales and that is the ONLY positive thing.

    Cons

Poor management with no direction what so ever. They keep handing out promo leaflets to call from. One day you are calling to sell HP printer and tell the client why HP is better than other, the next day you have to call the same client again and sell Epson or Dell and advise that why it is better than others.

They have hard time paying commission to their sales guys. You dont get any support from management. Within the last 2 years (2012-2014), more than 100 people have resigned due to poor management from their UK office. They micro-manage and do not let you sell your own way. You know your clients better, but they treat you like a kid.

If you pickup recent data about the growth of tech companies, Insight graph is going down. Its a shame to see a good company being mis-managed. They have let very good people go and have changed their way of operation from solution selling to call centre.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to treat adults like adults. You can guide them, but do not push them towards what your vendors want to sell

    Cons

Most has already been said. Runaway. we started the training and after a couple of weeks, they started firing people. all they tell you is you are not a fit for the company, please take your belonging.
    you ve been warned.

    Pros

Salary and that's it. There's nothing I can say about Insight that would be considered a "Pro" in any way shape or form.

    Cons

    Everything else.

From withholding work product from customers, to outright incompetence at almost every level (field engineer to management), project coordination and project management are the worst of any "professional" services organization I've ever seen.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None, I don't think anything will help Insight. At this point, they're the laughing stock of the professional services industry.

    I worked at Insight

    Pros

    - Nice building
    - Co workers are friendly
    - Pay is ok

    Cons

    - Militant
    - Micro Managed
    - Sales training inadequate
    - They use people as pons and work you like a donkey
    - management is incompetent

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees better, they work very hard and lets face it, the managers are incompetent with no leadership skills. The turnover rate is unreal this should be a red flag, stop playing roulette with employees.

    I worked at Insight

    Pros

It was a paycheck and benefits - that's all.

    Cons

Too much reliance on outsourcing to India - Infosys, WiPro

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Wake up and listen to your employees, as they are the ones who interact with the customers. And take responsibility for your actions or lack there of instead of worrying about your stock options/bonus. Why is CDW so big and profitable?? If management tried to do their employees jobs' they would fail royally, because they don't have a clue. Of course, the managers would then blame the employees for their (the managers) failures and outsource them.

Decent salary but incompetent management, terrible benefits, and no willingness to improve business processes.

    Former Employee - Pre-Sales Engineer

    I worked at Insight

    Pros

The salary is on-par with what you can get in the industry. Getting hired is pretty simple if you have the right credentials because they're so desperate.

    Cons

Where to begin... Their business process involves using highly talented, certified individuals to perform clerical tasks as more than half of their job. All of the talented executive management have resigned from the company in 2009 leaving a rotting corpse of a business. The company is losing money so management has taken every cost cutting step imaginable. You do not want to work in sales at this company unless you like having completely unattainable sales targets.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire a consulting firm to analyze the competence of the sales management. Be willing and able to terminate 70% of the management team. Also, consider delegating more authority to regional vice presidents as the company functions very differently in various parts of the country.

    I worked at Insight

    Pros

The money and prizes are good. Good medical and dental. Beautiful building to work in.

    Cons

It is like slave labor. They have a whip behind everyone all day, every day. They monitor your talk time(min. 2 1/2 hours), client dials (min. 40 calls), sales (number of sales and total dials) and send out a report hourly to the team. If you are lacking at any time of the day they will send you nasty e-mails. They listen to your calls continually. It is discouraged from you to even get up from your desk. I worked there for many years and hated every minute of it. The thing that keeps alot of people there is that they lack French skills so they have a hard time to find another good paying job (my reason too). I worked there for many years and would say they have turnover of at least 100 employees a year. They have training classes almost every month with about 25 new hires in each class. After about six months or so there will be approx. one person left from each group still employed by Insight.
They are very demanding and treat employees like whatever they are doing is not good enough. Their favorite saying is "You are only as good as your last sale". I saw many dedicated and talented sales reps abused. You were always in fear for your job. You can have fantastic sales for months and one slow month they will be on you like crazy.
I would STRONGLY NOT recommend working for Insight.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employees aren't Drones. The stress of this job is too much for most people.
