I have been working at Insurance Australia Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The work is challenging, the clients are great and they pay well. Mostly autonomous and the executive do what they can to keep people informed.

    Cons

Management don't always get their jobs by what they know but who... So incompetence gets promoted and talent gets fired, or harassed until they leave.

    Advice to Management

The best business growth is to service the customers you've already got, not prioritise outbound new business calls at the expense of service. Promote people who know what they're doing, not those who suck up, and you'll stop turning over staff and dropping the service standards!

I have been working at Insurance Australia Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-- Pay rates are decent for the industry. - Career opportunities to move elsewhere in the company

    Cons

    - They take over companies, gut them and try and make everything IAG style. Yes, you save money but you lose all the staff from those companies.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to make everything the same

I worked at Insurance Australia Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - good chance to grow into leadership positions if you like politics - you have a lot of spare time that you can use for personal development

    Cons

    - legacy code written by less qualified programmers - insurance business in NZ grows by acquisition, there are 100s of insurance related software products that require support and integration - everything moves very slow, you may get used to that and it will numb your brain - SCRUM is used as an excuse to keep too many developers busy with something
