Contractor - Short term

Administrative Assistant (Former Employee)
Tempe, AZ

I worked at Intel Corporation as a contractor for less than a year

ProsLots of perks for employees

ConsAs contractor you have no visibility into systems to retreive information that would be helpful to do the job. Often hard to get info.

Advice to Senior ManagementWhen you have somone that is already familiar with the processes and work flow, you should consider offering them perm position instead of hiring another contractor every 6 months and retraining.

Potential to be a great company again

Director (Former Employee)
Chandler, AZ

I worked at Intel Corporation full-time for more than 10 years

ProsWorld leader transforming how the world works through personal computers, servers, and cloud computing. Endless technical challenges, opportunity to work with cutting edge technology, bright enthusiastic co-workers. Every seven years - Intel gives an 8 week paid sabbatical in addition to normal vacation. Good bonus structure, ability to buy stock below market prices. World-wide company with great exposure to different cultures.

ConsToo big, over-staffed, and moves slowly to new market opportunities. The budget and head count allocation is based on prior year with some various, typically flat to down. Organizational structure inefficiencies spreading projects to too many world geographies causing delays to product entry or quality issues.

Advice to Senior ManagementDefine organization for accountability. Too many large super organizations with co-dependencies. The company needs to get back to basics, empower teams to deliver.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Not what it used to be

Component Design Engineer (Current Employee)
Santa Clara, CA

I have been working at Intel Corporation full-time for more than 8 years

ProsPool of strong technical talent.
You can end up learning a lot if you land in the right team.
Lot of innovation taking place.

ConsLot of organizational politics hurting efficiency. There is redundancy and people look for their own interests at the expense of the company.
It takes a lot of time to change directions. Basically, very slow moving and resistant to change.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease clean up the mess. Senior management has the right ideas but the middle management is the bottleneck.

ProsSmart and nice people.
Not bad pay.
Good company brand.

ConsFar away from downtown.
Already lots of people there.
Not too much opportunities on cutting edge technology.
Some of the managers do not understand details, just data passing.

Inefficient with great benefits

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Santa Clara, CA

I have been working at Intel Corporation full-time for more than 10 years

ProsGreat technical people, great benefits, innovations rewarded, easy to switch to internal jobs even with different line of work

ConsIncompetent employees manage to stick around for years, inefficient in building products, people reinventing wheels instead of re-use (re-use not rewarded, innovations are), non-technical first level managers

Hard work, long hours, low rewards

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
