    Stable, limited upward mobility

    Graphics Hardware Engineer (Current Employee) Folsom, CA

    ProsGreat job stability
    Work on products that impact a lot of people
    Management usually listens to complaints of workers

    ConsSub-par compensation
    Less and less focus on work-life balance
    Inefficient planning / work flow (you get to enjoy doing the same changes multiple times, and/or completing a task and THEN having it pulled from a project)
    Hard to get promoted past mid-level, at least in engineering
    Your hard work may very well go unrecognized

    Contractors Beware. Be Prepared to do the work of a regular full-time employee without the "Great Place to Work Value"

    Software Testing (Former Employee) Folsom, CA

    ProsFantastic Learning Opportunities. The most advanced microprocessors in the world. Intel owns the facilities and spends copious amounts on Research and Development.

    ConsSwearing, yelling, blaming, pointing the finger, and just plain unprofessionalism. It depends on what lab you work in. Some managers have too much time and others not enough. Some managers spend a great deal of time "spying" on employees. I guess it's the same in any company, but I thought Intel had higher standards.

    Advice to Senior ManagementBlue badge employees, supervisors, managers, and team leads are placing too much responsibility on Green Badge employees and or the contingent workforce.

    Look elsewhere if you want career growth

    Graphics Software Engineer (Current Employee) Folsom, CA

    ProsGreat work-life balance. Job rotation to try out different teams.

    ConsNo career growth or promotions even with great performance and awards. Moving within the company can also be hard, especially because of mediocre upper management.

    Contractor's Disease (it is catchy)

    IT Projects (Former Employee) Folsom, CA

    ProsVery good pay from the recruiting company

    ConsI wore a green badge and I was treated like I had a communicable disease. I was openly and publicly disrespected, I was publicly yelled at, I was elminated from conversations (regarding the job I was doing), I was called a liar to my face by a blue badge employee. I came into this job with as much experience as the perm employees, yet I was dismissed by a manager who was too busy to deal with the situation created by those perm employees. Since I was the contractor, it was easier to let me go, than to appropriately deal/discipline the offending employees. All this happend in less than 6 weeks.

    Advice to Senior ManagementNo amount of advice is going to change the hearts and minds of those managers who have been there too long and don't see that change is important and relevant. Good luck, maybe someday you might be able to push your stock up out of the flat lands into something that resembles a hill or a mountain.

    Once a wonderfully managed company. Now, an also-ran.

    Program Manager (Former Employee) Folsom, CA

    ProsDiscipline. Work Ethic. Good compensation.

    ConsNo team spirit. Low morale due to lay-offs

    Advice to Senior ManagementFind a way to encourage employees to be teams and compete not amongst themselves but with Intel's competitors.

    LukeWarm

    Component Design Engineer (Current Employee) Folsom, CA

    ProsEven though Intel has one of the best technologies and Process, the design teams seem to be definetly overstaffed, which means a better work life balance

    ConsHigh degree of heirarchy, and a huge workforce means motivation and push on individuals is less. From a personal experience, many under performing people have a safe haven with very less to no growth even with experience of 10-15 years.

    Good place when legends ran it but so so today

    Senior Director (Former Employee) Folsom, CA

    ProsInteresting work if you are aggressive in finding it;
    Good Opportunities for individuals to contribute;
    Great place to learn from colleagues and from very experienced managers (in the past);
    Good management systems for scale and scope;

    ConsRisk taking is only practiced by its absence and not rewarded;
    Senior management no longer familiar with innovation and product development;
    Engineering management only interested in turning the crank;
    Culture has been allowed to deteriorate severely;
