I have been working at InterContinental Hotels Group full-time

    Pros

Hospitality company - practices "hospitality" feel and people are friendly and events are nice. Depending on the department you work in, the experience can be a fun environment.

    Cons

Company more concerned with getting on the fortune list, than actually "fixing" the employee related issues. Attitude is if you don't like it here- go somewhere else. Since everyone is so friendly, the transparency of what is wrong and confronting it, is often missed, because people are to afraid to speak up and are more concerned with "engagement score, being a certain point, rather than actually trying to "address engagement issues. Positions are base more on how people "feel" about you and less on whether you are "qualified".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Actually listen to employees instead of finding ways to "restructure or terminate" employee you feel have issues.

I worked at InterContinental Hotels Group

    Pros

Two people I work with are good at their jobs and nice people.

    Cons

Too many to list here, most of the management needs to be retrained or go back to school. Its like going to high school if you're not in the click you're not going to be scheduled very much. The manage hired her mother, her dads best friend, her brothers girlfriend, and lots of her friends so if any one of them does something very wrong you have no one to tell and the general manager let this happen even though it is against company policy.

    Pros

Hours don't interfere with the rest of my life.

    Cons

This privately owned business does the bare minimum to meet critical standards.

Listen to your workers. Especially those who have been educated and are offering sound advice to help make the business more efficient and more equitable to its employees.

I have been working at InterContinental Hotels Group as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

Good group of people to work with, kind and caring, upper management always gives credit where it's due. Have the ability to telecommute if needed.

    Cons

No growth opportunity for me. Many areas lack structure. Standards, guidelines and processes aren't implemented in some areas which I found odd being that the company has been around for so long. Too old to still be dealing with growing pains.

I have been working at InterContinental Hotels Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The benefits are amazing! Compensation is average.

    Cons

There is constant lack of color in upper-management and there appears to be no hope of changing this concept.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Diversity is imperative in any company. Upper diversity is needed to truly experience growth. Recognition of education and hard work should outweigh friendship when reviewing applications.

I worked at InterContinental Hotels Group full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good core values of the company

    Cons

None of those values were executed at my location. Despite having never worked in the industry before (which I was told they liked) provided with zero training and just thrown into the job. Orientation was sitting with a temp for 2 days. Complete lack of communication between management and staff.
