Experience not great overall. Coworkers were great to work with.

IT Support (Current Employee) King of Prussia, PA

ProsCompensation is on par with industry for engineers and IT, however the KOP location is rather remote from any activities or a city.

ConsEntrenched in outdated processes, The Board and CEO trying to sell the company. Department projects and goals rarely met which affected your bonus - when they didn't cut it at the year's end. No yearly bonus if you leave before 12-31. KOP location is rather remote and all major access roads have heavy traffic during peak times.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop trying to sell the company so The Board and CEO can have a payday, and get back to letting the engineers be innovative. Prorate bonuses when someone leaves of their own accord.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Need some talented higher management to drive this place

Senior Engineer (Current Employee) King of Prussia, PA

    ProsGood work environment,
    open research environment

ConsR&D not applicable that much to product development
The company is trying to invest in many small projects and this make it not specialized in any thing in particular

Advice to Senior ManagementUnclear vision for most of the employers on where the company is heading and its future. Management should make this message clear.

Horizontal structure and easy-to-work with Engineers

Senior Staff Engineer (Current Employee) King of Prussia, PA

ProsProfit-sharing, Annual bonus, opportunity to work with latest wireless technologies

ConsLack of vision; This company is big into patents and legal so Engineers are treated as second class citizens.

Advice to Senior Managementlook at long term goals rather than keep changing your strategies every short while. This will create a lot of distraction in the work place and results in a poor efficiency from the Engineers.

Good money for the work hours.

Staff Engineer (Current Employee) Melville, NY

Prosa very relaxed pace of work, good base salaries, good bonus and compensation, freindly atmosphere, job stability, very good work- life balance

Consinsufficeint technical challenge, poor middle management who does not care about proffesional and carrer growth, most people are near retirement- very few young and dynamic people. Dfifficult to change groups- easy to be stuck in a rut

Advice to Senior ManagementReduce the fat!. This is a top heavy organisation. Add more young engineers. Make promotions more uniform. Allow people to change groups

    Need change in Management

Senior Staff Engineer (Current Employee) Melville, NY

ProsOne of the pros with InterDigital is the opportunity that people get to work on latest technologies. There is lot of freedom to move from one area of work to another within the company.

ConsThere is no concept of work-life balance for people working in the product teams. Working for 6 days a week with really long hours each day is quite common. These crunch times lasted up to one to two years instead of a few weeks/months which is the norm in many technology companies.

Advice to Senior ManagementInterDigital started product development, hired a team and laid of people and repeated this process three times in the last 9 years. It should put more thought into what it wants to do in the product space before actually hiring the people and bring in people with product experience into the exec team. It is completely reliant on patents that are either silly or are good but about to expire for all the revenue and this can not be the long term plan of the company.

InterDigital needs some cleanup at Senior Management level

Staff Engineer (Current Employee) Melville, NY

ProsIt is small company. So the environment is very competitive. Engineers are one of the smartest engineers. Benefits given to engineer are sometimes are good. Every innovation is paid a lot for. Contributions are valued a lot. you can be a large fish in small pond very fast. Diverse group of people to work with.

ConsSenior management lacks direction. In fact entire upper management team lacks direction.
Number of meetings are way high. Which makes is less productive space.
All Allhands meetings presentation, more-or-less look "identical"

Hiring HR Stinks. Upper management doesn't seem to realize that they miss a lot of good ppl who want to work with this company because of the hiring manager.

Advice to Senior ManagementThey need to clean up themselves. a lot of junk folks. Remove some patent hungry folks.

    Good

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

    ProsSalary, good place to learn

ConsNothing to say about this at this time
