    I worked at InterDigital full-time

    Pros

Nice core group, good salaries and decent benefits. The Wilmington location was too remote and far. Nicely appointed office space and latest software.

    Cons

Too many changes, constantly trying to reinvent themselves. High turnover in Legal Department - a lot involuntary. HR is a joke-a lot of incompetent people.

I worked at InterDigital full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The company has a family atmosphere. The compensation is way above average for the area. Good benefits, although those have been declining somewhat. The people I worked with were great - smart, not into politics, made it easy to go to work.

    Cons

Too much uncertainty all the time. Too many layoffs. Management constantly changing strategy (like usual, even though they put in a new team). The lawyers rule everything. The place is a law firm. Lawyers looked down on engineering. If you're an engineer, don't bother applying unless you don't mind selling your soul. HR is the worst I've ever seen. Constant mistakes. Document EVERYTHING.

    Advice to Management

Pick a path and stay on it.

    Pros

Empowered to improve processes, implement new concepts, take leadership roles, develop ideas. Pleasant working environment, associates friendly.

    Cons

Professional accomplishments unrecognized/not rewarded. Lacks a productive employee career plan. Work-life balance enjoyed, but many are not permitted same benefit.

    Advice to Management

Provide a career development tool for all employees and implement to ensure professional growth AND advancement. Provide a material rewards program to all employees. Recognize and value all employees (in addition to engineers, attorneys and senior management) within the organization to improve morale and productivity.

I worked at InterDigital full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Creative work environment. You are encouraged to do research and produce your own ideas. Competitive salary and benefits. Staff is mostly friendly.

    Cons

You have to work in suburbs. Even though these days almost all the tech companies located in the suburbs. But if you are single person who would like to have a life outside of the work, it is very difficult to have a balanced life.

I worked at InterDigital full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pay and bonuses well above industry average Work on cutting-edge wireless Job security for authors/co-authors of numerous patent applications Mostly good people to work with Relaxed working environment (typically no product deadlines)

    Cons

Hard to advance past Member Technical Staff for engineers Has a reputation as a patent troll Limited transparency of executive decision making down to employees

    Advice to Management

Continue to drive the business through engineering innovation instead of purely patent driven decisions. Good engineering will always create value in some form.

I have been working at InterDigital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good work environment, open research environment

    Cons

R&D not applicable that much to product development The company is trying to invest in many small projects and this make it not specialized in any thing in particular

    Advice to Management

Unclear vision for most of the employers on where the company is heading and its future. Management should make this message clear.

    Advice to Management

Reduce the fat!. This is a top heavy organisation. Add more young engineers. Make promotions more uniform. Allow people to change groups

    Pros

Small, friendly, people know the stuff well

    Cons

Not enough brand name power compare to Nokia, Ecricsson.

    Advice to Management

bring more interns and get them have a full view of the company instead of just the sector they are working on. Too specialized for a student.
