Great mission and organization, but definitely need to make some big changes.

    Pros

Subject matter is inspiring. The researchers and programmatic staff are passionate and knowledgeable about their areas of work. They were super sweet and never rude unlike some of the other staff members. Flexible working schedule.

    Cons

Leadership is clueless. Business development and communications is a mess. The organization does not how to stay relevant and ahead of the curve. If you're not in the president's "nice list," you'll probably never be respected or taken seriously.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change is good and there's no moving forward without taking some risks.

    Pros

great mission and great staff, rising India office, and still some really good continuing work that started with previous leaders

    Cons

lack of vision by new president--the inspiration and credibility is now lacking--mass exodus of good people

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    change leadership

  3.

Organization with lots of promise, but they often got in their own way.

    Pros

Very smart workforce, interesting research issues. Much-need new leadership came into play in mid-2010. Changes made reflect a desire to be taken seriously and operate efficiently and credibly.

    Cons

Employees showed a surprising lack of respect for one another and for their leadership -- disappointing given how educated the workforce is. Often stymied decision-making and progress of the mission.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hold the employee base accountable; a voice and a voice also comes with responsibility.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Positive Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
