    This ship is sunk.

Account Executive (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsCheap lunch at cafeteria. Great location midtown Manhattan, near central park. Awesome same sex dating scene. Discounts available at local museums(I am not sure if this is still available.) Fine Perfume group loves to share fragrances. Dress is casual business, no jeans, but you can express your creativity in the way you dress.

ConsIt is not about the quality of your work, but rather about ones ability to keep their mouth shut, which is the best way to become well liked at IFF. There is little room for advancement for most. Every year the benefits are reduced. No more pension, health care cost increases. 401K is shabby. No bones about it HR is in place to protect the company and Senior management. The best way to handle an issue involving sexual harassment or physical threats by management is not to go to HR. If you point out a problem you will be made to feel badly and your job/career will be put in jeopardy. The present CEO knows nothing of the industry, and thinks that all companies should be run exactly the way the last company, paper company, he was at was run. The CEO is hypocritical, unapproachable and obnoxious. Since he has been installed at IFF every area of the business has been struggling. The board of directors is awful! They have made mistake, after mistake, after mistake for the past 20 years, it has been painful. Members change and are replaced by equal or worse candidates. Senior managment are becoming millionaires while the stock holders' investment is wasted on unearned bonuses.

Advice to Senior ManagementUnless they are willing to all quite, so that competent people can replace them, they should just continue to fail. Once the company is completely in shambles, maybe, a competitor can purchase IFF and the "guys", gals are not welcome, in charge can make some money on the sale of their options when the price goes up from the acquisition.

Stop being complacent with your current status quo!!!

Analyst (Former Employee) Science Park (Zimbabwe)

ProsWork life balance. This is the only pull factor that keep employee stay put in IFF

ConsLimited career growth for mid level executives as senior mgt stay at their position for indefinite period till retirement!

Advice to Senior ManagementStrongly suggest job rotation be made easy so that each employee is given opportunity to maximise their potential & not just being too complacent with their current status quo

    – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    It was a great disappointment.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsPeople are a fun bunch to work with.

ConsSenior management is the hurdle to the prospering of the company. Employees are striving hard but unfortunately, it is only the "selected" group that will receive the special treatment. The HR is also not connected to the people. In addition, as a HR dept, the frequency of the change of HR personnel tells alot on what is happening within the dept.

Advice to Senior ManagementFor now, stop all the hype of projects that are supposedly to benefit employees as it only adds more work burden without real returns. The projects should be spaced out to allow time for people to accept change too. Management should also truly listen to feedback from employees and act on it instead of sweeping under the carpet especially when it relates to senior management. They should seriously invest in people and their development.

    Reputation is better than reality

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThere are some very good people who are long time employees at IFF. They really understand their business and care about the company.

ConsToo many areas of the company are lacking direction and focus. Many managers are so far above their pay scale that there is little hope for a turn around.

It is also so political that some people were promoted extremely quickly without merit, while other far more qualified employees were scapegoated for others' failures.

It appears corporate policy to fabricate excuses to terminate employees to avoid bonuses and severance.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake the time to listen to the employees instead of the managers who will say anything to advance their careers.
