I worked at International Flavors as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Never felt like "the intern" here- had lunch with all the senior process engineers on a regular basis and was treated like a real person. Got assigned a very real project, not busy work.

    Cons

Project was too large to complete in internship timeframe: wish I could have seen it from start to finish. Lab work was monotonous at times, but it's part of the job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to encourage interns to get to know each other. Had a few good events; the program has a lot of potential.

I have been working at International Flavors full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    People; Programs; Systems; Environment; Global-nature

    Cons

Hectic pace; no downtime to think/breathe or come up again for air!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keeping it lean for too long lends stress to the individuals .. and firefighting modes don't always make processes more efficient long term. Too many of us are wearing too many hats so not always able to complete a project or process to its successful conclusion before starting on the next .. five!

    - Didn't like the atmosphere (lots of swearing in the office)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure managers are more than just nice.

I have been working at International Flavors full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

There is always room for your personal development, the culture is great and it is a true global/international work environment. Internal training opportunities are also widely offered to employees, managers and interns. Besides this the business we are operating in is very exciting and delivers solid growth.

    Cons

If you are not flexible and patient you will have a hard time working here.

    I worked at International Flavors

    Pros

    Great colleagues
    Nice working hours
    Easily accessible via public transport
Interesting though not too challenging for someone as their first job in a chemical industry

    Cons

    No possibility of career advancement
    Management is wishy-washy and fickle
The Greater Asia plant services all of SEA, Oceania and occasional requests from outside Asia so prepare for 20x50g library requests.

Former Employee - Marketing and Sales Coordinator in Grasse (France)

I worked at International Flavors as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

The company operates in a very competitive industry currently facing critical global challenges. Innovation is at the heart of the company strategy and everyone plays an important role in that everyday. Employees are given responsibilities and real autonomy from day 1 and can collaborate easily with other employees worldwide. Employees could enjoy several training periods each year

    Cons

Compensations are not rewarding and work-life balance is not always facilitated at the managerial level. The fast-paced environment can sometimes lead to no planning in operations for sales and marketing and thus high pressure.
