Not a bad job as long as you're a mind reader and are completely compliant

    Pros

There are a lot of really nice people who work here, and in the beginning, you can see that. They have fantastic benefits, pay well, have a cafeteria during the day, child care next door, etc.

    Cons

Never be late, or too early. It will be held against you and you'll never forget it. Management is incredibly tight and get along with their own, but if you're not in their personal worship group, prepare for a bumpy ride in which you will never be able to reach the standards they set and keep raising without telling you. Make sure you get and memorize every one of their policies before you start, and adhere to them strictly, or your tenure will be short lived. There are plenty of people willing to stab you in the back so they can step on you to climb higher on the ladder of success. Be prepared for promises made in the beginning that will not be kept.

    Advice to Management

Learn to be managers- learn how to bring out the best in your employees instead of stepping on them or talking to them in condescending tones and punishing them severely for "rules" they break that they really didn't actually break. Understand life happens, and remember you have human beings reporting to you, not mind reading robots who are members of your fan club.

    Pros

I work with some of the best and brightest colleagues I have ever met. We have great comradery and are willing to work hard for each other.

    Cons

Company leadership focuses on bottom line and shareholder value more than its customers and employees.

    Advice to Management

Rather than only focusing on EBITA and shareholder value, develop a stronger social mission and vision that employees and customers can relate to.

    Pros

Many opportunities for career advancement throughout the company.

    Cons

Career advancement is very rarely in the state or city you currently work and live in.

    Pros

Really like the south Reno location. Benefits and salary were alright. People working there were generally nice.

    Cons

Management was an old boys club seemed to favor the status quo over any sense of progressive thinking. Anyone questioning development direction was fired.

    Advice to Management

I don't think there's any advice I could give that would be taken by management.

    Pros

Work to life balance is great. Keep allowing employees to choose when and how they work. It allows for them to maintain a sense of agency.

    Cons

While my current group allows me to choose how/when I work and they recognize that they have to let go some of the time, I feel strongly that we are an isolated case and it is not the norm.

    Pros

IGT is a pretty good place to work, for the most part. Like any big company, in my experience, it depends a lot on who your immediate manager is.
We are all waiting to see how our pending acquisition goes.

    Cons

Uncertainty about the future, silos, budget constraints, nothing too extreme in this day and age. Our revenues have declined steadily over the past few years so that exacerbates all of the above.

    Advice to Management

    Share the wealth.
