Keep laying off these imbeciles so it will be job security for me.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsAwesome salary. Excellent benefits including 401k and vacation. Greatest part is the company is continuing to layoff people in my division. That's job security for me because at some point, I will be the only one in my department that will be left to do the job.

ConsThere are still people in my department that still need to go. Management needs to layoff these people or put them under a Performance Improvement Plan and evidently fire them.

Advice to Senior ManagementI see no problem with what Senior Management is doing. Look around, some 7-11's are run by less then 3 people in a franchise.

    Great boss and great teammates

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsWorking at IGT is very rewarding. My boss here at IGT is great. I feel I am valued and my opinion works. I am not micro-managed and my work is challenging. I personally have a very fast paced job and I continue to learn here.

ConsChange is hard for some people and that can cause some negative feelings about the company from some of my colleagues. I personally do ok with change but I can see some people do struggle with it. I also think it is easy to point fingers for issues but sometimes my colleagues have a hard time accepting responsibility for their own impact to the situation. It can be hard to listen to at times. Instead of pointing out problems, more people should come to the table with solutions.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore transparency is needed, clearer messaging on corporate strategy and cut dead weight/people not pulling their weight or those bringing down morale with bad attitudes.

A good place to work with amazing people made it a GREAT place to work!

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThe people are what made this a wonderful place to work.

ConsI was one of the 350 people who were laid off, so that was a bit of a negative.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf the execs had each taken a little pay cut, it could have saved some of little people...IMO

Employees are smart and hard working.

ProsVariety of games keep it from being boring.

ConsConstant fear of restructuring and layoffs

Advice to Senior ManagementThey need to join in the work and not just sit in offices barking orders and work past 5pm once in a while.

    Lucky to be here.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Reno, NV

ProsNo single person can speak for a company this big. I see and read the negative comments and I am not without empathy. However, I left for a while, it is tough out there. It is extremely difficult to find any job, let alone a good or great job.
I was lucky to get my foot back in the door and the department in which I am employed happens to be amazing. We have clear goals and concise leadership and I look forward to coming here everyday and working with my team and our partners.
Many problems we face are being faced by other companies, all across the country.
We all need to step it up.
I am sorry if you do not like it here, but you will not bring me down.

ConsSure there are some problems and concerns. Again, these problems are happening in many companies, but on an individual basis there just might be something that you can do to make it better.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf I had any good advice for someone who is qualified to to be a Manager, V.P. or CEO, I guess I would apply for one of those positions so that I could make more money and advance my career.

IGT gets it right! Taking care of employees is everthing!

Head of Field Marketing - U S (Current Employee)
    Reno, NV

ProsI am a manager here at IGT. I work in a Marketing role and touch every department and every product that goes out the door. I recently conducted a personal survey with several employees internally, here on the Reno campus, asking them why they liked working at the Reno location. The results are as follows and worth sharing:
1.) Generous salary for a small market
2.) Close proximity to a lot of important business groups that help me do my job
3.) Excellent health benefits, 401K, profit sharing and generous paid time off packages
4.) Seeing the assembly line in motion is a benefit
5.) The games are made in Reno, and I get to play them before anyone else gets to even "see" them
6.) C-Suite and VP executives act like one of us. Are human. Approachable.
7.) Several animals use our building as their home, and our trees outback for their nests (the baby owls hatch in April and are so cute)
8.) Lake Tahoe is only a 30 minute drive away when I want to take an early out on a Friday to recreate or ski
9.) IGT’s landscaped courtyard makes for a nice outdoor meeting spot
10.) The view of the mountains from the dining room or outdoor patio
11.) The game designers and mathematicians are talented. I enjoy being around talented people everyday. It pushes me to be better at my job.

ConsSometimes working for a company as big as IGT prevents us from getting products to market quickly, and there is a perception problem that IGT is too expensive even though our customers sometimes look past all of the value adds that come with doing business with IGT, the industry leader.

Advice to Senior ManagementPatti Hart and her Leadership Team should hold more Town Hall meetings more often than just when our Earnings come out. All employees should understand that IGT is making money and that we are #1 in everything we do, Financially. Analysts are so critical of the company that is on top. It's too bad. Patti Hart and our Board of Directors are doing fabulous work.

    – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Best company I've worked for

    Production Assembler (Former Employee)
    Reno, NV

ProsBenefits after 30 days. Profit sharing. Great people to work with, mostly. They match your 401k 100%. You learn a lot. It's a great stepping-stone.

ConsCan be high-anxiety. It's easy to get burned out because it's highly routinized, highly monotonous. Very fast-paced. Sometimes it feels like you have to be on amphetamines to work there - but hey, as long as you make sure you know what you're doing, and just do your job, paying attention to detail, making sure your work is perfect, you should be ok.
