I have been working at International Paper full-time

    Pros

Great development opportunities. You have to be willing to sell yourself to your manager and those above but if you perform well and make your professional goals known, they will help you advance.

    Cons

Memphis, TN is the center of the universe. If you intend to enter upper management you must be willing to move to Memphis. Also pretty traditional culture and behind the curve when it comes to technology. Though, they are making good advances in this area.

I have been working at International Paper full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Pretty easy job as long as you manage time and solve problems well. Also depends on who your manager is

    Cons

Corporate politics governs how much you make and how fast you move up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Realize people potential and pay them what they are worth or you'll continue to lose the young talent that you are trying so hard to attract.

I worked at International Paper as an intern for more than a year

    Pros

Many opportunities for growth, great sustainability program, employees are like family, hard work doesn't go unnoticed, meet and work with IP employees from across the globe

    Cons

Some older managers are stuck in their ways - some stick to tradition rather than look for ways to improve,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at International Paper full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Decent pay (competitive)
    Great benefits (besides health insurance)
    Great people to work with
    Advancement opportunities
    Extra activities provided by company
Large company with opportunity to relocate
    Fast paced environment
Very busy all the time and the time flies by

    Cons

Very top down approach, everything has to go through your manager, which then goes to their manager etc. It is a lenghty process to get anything approved. I do not know if it is a power struggle or what.
Everyone gets the same raise every year as long as you do your job.
Since it is such a large company sometimes you do not get the recognition you deserve.
Hard to have a work life balance since it is such a stressful and demanding job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow lower level employees to do their jobs.
Recognize the employees that do go above and beyond.
