The IRC has provided me with excellent opportunity and very rewarding challenges.

Director (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsThe greatest aspects of working at the IRC are the flexibility and independence afforded its employees, no matter the level.

ConsFor such a large humanitarian organization, salary does not seem as competitive as it could be. This needs to be improved to retain high quality staff.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep up the intellectual enthusiasm about the work that IRC does as well as the emphasis on personal growth.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsSupporting a great international cause and working with clients from different countries. Supportive staff members make work a lot more fun.

ConsInterns are sometimes treated poorly and not really recognized. Of course, this depends on different locations.

Advice to Senior ManagementBalance work life with personal life. Up to 20 hours of unpaid work is too much per week.

    Great Experience!

Intern (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsGood opportunity to do field work and interact with refugees and immigrants who are new to America and have very little time to learn a huge lot of things. Teaches patience, compassion and bringing energy to the work-place while working at IRC.

ConsSometimes the requirements become over-bearing when there are huge number of clients coming with issues in different areas. One needs to be prepared for these occasional rush hours.
