    Pros

20 days off a year, good benefits. Adequate pay for what you do. A lot of corporate managers and observers to watch over what you do.

    Cons

High turnover. This leads to being constantly in an "orientation" mode. They won't train you because they don't know how Always recruiting for the job and not enough training for the job.
There is a disproportionate number of senior managers, auditors, supervisors. etc, that do not contribute anything to the bottom line, but travel around, cost money, and generate even more work that justifies their traveling around and spending more money

    Advice to Management

Get rid of half of the non-producers, Either give them something that generates revenue or let them go..

    Pros

You will learn testing methods, analytical thinking, and the hustle to succeed in a testing lab. You will learn a variety of equipment within your test specialty. Other test labs value employees of this company.

    Cons

Frequent turnover prevents group cohesion. Pressure is high. Salary increases are not strongly connected to performance. Improvisation of test setups is likely.

    Advice to Management

A stable command structure, stable team structure, and regimented training of new hires, would promote team spirit and overall team skill.

Feels like you work for a small company, but Intertek is huge. Lots of hands on learning.

    Pros

Lots of learning, various characters, diverse locations

    Cons

Not glamorous, offices often in awful areas of the cities or countries they operate, people are hit or miss... some "go getters" and "rainmakers", others just here for the job.

    Advice to Management

Get better at recognizing talent, and upward mobility.

    Pros

Intertek overall is a terrific company with great people. Working out of the U.S., I don't have interaction with headquarters in the U.K. This independence (which is the norm) provides a great deal of opportunity, as does a leadership structure which is constantly evolving. This is a good company for self-starters and those who want to impact change, given the opportunities and the very fast pace.

    Cons

The flipside of decentralized leadership is that communication is often a challenge, including within the U.S. and its multiple divisions, as well as between different divisions and functions. This company is probably not a good fit for those uncomfortable with ambiguity and consistently evolving structure, and is certainly not a good fit for those looking for a slow pace.

    Advice to Management

Continue to explore the right balance between decentralization and structured communication. Continue to survey employees and act based on the results in an ongoing fashion.
