I have been working at Intuit full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great work life balance, excellent culture of respect, solves hard problems and a business model that has produced a doubling in stock price in the last three years.

    Cons

A lot of meetings, a focus on consensus can slow decision making on critical items, centralized QA org not as responsive as when it was independent

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on mobile more and trying to get a younger overall engineering culture to keep on the cutting edge of developments in tech

I have been working at Intuit

    Pros

Intuit has amazingly smart people that challenge you and help you grow and learn. The products have real impact on millions of customers' financial lives and it feels good to do work that is truly meaningful. The offices, benefits, and work life balance are great. The CEO inspires the company to always do better for customers and employees.

    Cons

There can be times when meetings and lots of collaboration are required to get the work done, but I would expect this at any large company.

Current Employee - All Quickbooks Sale Departments, and Demandforce in Englewood, CO

I have been working at Intuit full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Amazing benefits, seriously I dont think anyone can beat them. pay is pretty good, and its pretty hard to get fired (some people haven't hit goal in 5-6 months)
-If your a top performer, CEO club is amazing!
-very supportive, kind, and integrity focused company
    -uncapped positions are great
    -great sales experiance

    Cons

-They are a corpiration, so they will shut down departments left and right out of the blue ( Its happened at least once a year in my 2 1/2 years here)
    - The quickbooks team is a easy, easy sale, but micro managed pretty good
-Demandforce is a monster. it will be the hardest Job you have ever done. almost impossible at times
-A lot of the people there whine, a lot.
-very hard to advance your carrier outside of sales. only 3 people in 3 years were promoted at the Denver office

I have been working at Intuit full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Intuit is famously "nice". The people are just so nice, darn it. And they are very respectful of each other. For example, you will rarely hear of a manager berating or demeaning a subordinate. Such a manager would be gone in a heartbeat. Also, the benefits are outstanding. Intuit takes great care of its employees.

    Cons

Changing anything at Intuit, anything at all, is an ordeal. You have to convince and align a dozen people to make the smallest change. This is because Intuit is a consensus culture. If you join, you had better plan to spend the first couple of years building an extensive network of personal relationships across Intuit, because you'll need them to get anything, and I mean anything, accomplished.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The middle tier of managers is, well, not terribly effective, primarily because of lack of managerial training. Basic management competencies and practices like 1-1s, giving timely and detailed feedback to employees, business planning, etc. etc. are incredibly non-uniform across Intuit. It would do a world of good for the company if managers were given consistent training and then held to uniform standards across the company. And I don't mean the feel-good leadership trainings that I've attended where we end by meditating and visualizing (seriously). I mean training on the nitty-gritty of being a disciplined manager.
