I have been working at Itron full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Paycheck and good coworkers is only thing to look forward to. If you like waiting on your leaders and supervisors because they come in after the shift starts and don't even know what their workers are doing that day then this is a great environment.

    Cons

Everything from HR to temp workers. Idiots hiring idiots. Management have no idea how to do any of the jobs they are managing. They are basically taking up space. Itron gives managment jobs to people who suck up or are basically tattle tails. They treat workers like elementary students. They hide behind buggies and walls to and I quote "bust people". They even tell you when you can use the restroom. If you're not in their click you don't get treated fairly. They hire family regardless of how stupid or lazy they are. If your family member or you are any kind of intelligent they feel threatened and will go to extremes to knock you down.

    Advice to Management

Start evaluating everyone on knowledge and skills and stop being scared of your workers. Follow rules and policies for EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING not just the ones that fit your attitude towards someone or something.

I have been working at Itron full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Paycheck., free coffee and clueless management.

    Cons

Incompetent management at all levels. ZERO training. No direction. You're suppose to guess what your boss wants. Company is going downhill fast, check out the financials. Since the big government giveaway was over, the market for utility meters has saturated and Itron has no advantage over the competition.

    Advice to Management

Look for another job, you're going to need one soon.

I have been working at Itron full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The fellow people that I get to work with. Relaxed environment, depending on manager, i.e. ability to work from home.

    Cons

Pay is way below industry standard. No training. Advancement is difficult. Environment and morale slipping daily. Employees not valued. Little organization and planning in project that it's become a bit of a mess. CEO makes 90 times the average employee and HR still cannot get to a point where they pay people at an industry standard. When layoffs do occur, talented individuals are laid off while many incompetent employees remain. Almost seems that one needs to screw up in order to be promoted. There are constant re-organization efforts and many employees shift around from manager to manager.

    Advice to Management

Need some serious overhaul of management, and communication needs much improvement. There are too many bottle necks which result in 10% of the people working 60+ hours a week while others wait for that work to be done. Resources need to be better understood and utilized.

    Pros

In current US tech industry, a racially biased company like itron is destined to fail

    Cons

I dont think the upper management is promoting racial bias like other reviews suggested but they are well aware of it. However, they prefer to keep their eyes closed. The bad reputation has spread through industry causing itron to take major hits from previous employees who have taken governmental positions now.

    Advice to Management

Keep your eyes closed until company goes broke.

    Pros

Itron offers paycheck, healthcare, and benefits so it is better than being unemployed

    Cons

Complete chaos! It feels like working in a western movie. Nobody follows the law in itron. If you talk about law, management laughs at you. Then in every meeting they wonder why the company is not performing well.

    Advice to Management

US has law so Itron should follow the law.

    Pros

None that I noticed when I worked there but now I know some connections that I made are quite useful.

    Cons

The upper management in itron are all 60 y.o. male rednecks that promotes racial bias under cover. Some lower managers hire minorities (females, ethnic minorities, foreigners) not knowing the company's non-written policy and trouble starts there! A recent outcome is that itron already segregated 2 offices (Davis, CA and I think Berkeley, CA) by firing or forcing minorities to leave or work remotely. Overall, not a good place for females, minorities, foreigners, etc.

    Advice to Management

Advice to CEO: Segregation is not a solution to itrons problems.... Changing every single person in management is!
