Excellent opportunity to gain experience

Operations Supervisor (Current Employee)
Columbus, OH

I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time for less than a year

ProsNo day is ever the same... You will face constant challenges and learn a lot fast!! Lots of opportunity for growth in a organizaiton with a great product and service in all areas. National company with opportunities to move...

ConsYou will work 50-65 hours and possibly have a on-call phone on the weekends...It's borderline unacceptable to move outside the region and you will get no support to move outside of it...Poor benefits... No Vacations for a year and after a year, 5 days... 401k is basically a 3% (6% of half) match...Extremely stressful work environment (Definitely losing hair). Very poor training from the get-go... Sink or Swim mentality. Depending on the customer you work for, you are subject to their hours of operation... Retail (2/3 days off a year) some other industries (every holiday).

Advice to Senior ManagementMy only advice is 5 vacation days after 6 months, 7 after a year... after 6 months you have learned so much and your constant interaction with aggressive under-educated individuals wears on your mentality significantly.

Love this company

Regional Driver (Current Employee)
Chicago, IL

I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time for more than 5 years

ProsI've been with J B on and off for 21 years. I've never had a complaint about the company itself. My I've run into a knuckle head Fleet Manager or two, but I've a;ways made good money with J B.

ConsThey go a little overboard with all the safety stuff. It can be a pain sometimes. but then I guess there can never be too much safety.

Advice to Senior ManagementStart cracking down on the smart mouth Fleet managers, who think it's productive to talk to grown men like babies. I'll name no names, but they know who they are.

Great learning experience

Carrier Sales Coordinator (Current Employee)
Lowell, AR

I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time for more than a year

Proslearning experience, work well with school schedules.

Cons7am-5pm work days, not 8/9-5. Micro-managin at it's finest. bottom of the barrel pay.

Advice to Senior ManagementSales and operations need to be better connected. They need to take better care of the employees, they have a lot of smart, hard working employees that don't get any acknowledgment and end up leaving.

Great place to work

Operations Manager (Former Employee)
South Boston, VA

I worked at J.B. Hunt

ProsGreat place to work, it's hard and fast paced but it's very satisfying and rewarding. The compensation, bonus, and benefits packages were also good.

ConsHas to work 6 to 7 deays a week sometomes if we got busy udring peak shipping times and that was unpaid over-time because I was salary.

Advice to Senior ManagementWork in over-time pay if working the weekends to make it fair. The compensation was good but didn't make up for the hours of the weekends worked.

Great place to work as a part time truck driver

Local Truck Driver (Current Employee)
Lithia Springs, Douglas, GA

I have been working at J.B. Hunt

ProsThe best reasons to work at this job is that most of the fleet managers are understanding and able to deal with drivers with courtesy and respect. They are very much concerned about safety and on-time delivery and will reward great performance. The have newer model trucks and kept exceptionally clean. Maintenance staff is very helpful and their attitudes towards the drivers has become better. Overall, this is a GREAT place to work as a Local Driver.

ConsAt this particular location, it is difficult to work with 1 or 2 managers, but overall this location is the best place I have worked.

Advice to Senior ManagementPLEASE give training on how to deal with internal customers, for the Drivers, Maintenance Workers, and Fleet managers.
